    Default This Week

Well, it's almost Week #24, so it makes sense that we make Block #24, doesn't it? This was another easy-ish one. I found that I had good luck with appliqueing the dark pink outer petals to the light pink inner piece before stitching the unit to the background. That way the seam allowance seemed to tuck under very nicely!

Kathy, I don't understand how you sew your pieces together before you attach them, but your blocks are always impeccably done and absolutely gorgeous! I wanna be you when I grow up.

I just lay one piece on top of the other. I use freezer paper, so the pieces are true size & I can see where they need to go. Plus, I use my eye to gage where it should go. I pin it in place, stitch & when the unit is finished, I put it on the background.

    Default Biggie Borders

I have finished the 2 longer borders, even the embroidery. Here is a pic of them. Now, on to the shorter, side borders!

Kathy, your block #24 is beautiful and your borders are exquisite. Great job! You are an inspiration for the rest of us beginning appliquers. Thanks for sharing with us.
