Thanks JanRN ... The Birds don't show their colours all so well ... the dark is a large print in purple, black, green on a teal background. I love it and would love to have something made out of it. I always think it has a velvet-look to it. The yellow is has very faded bits of blue and green on it.
Do you suppose the birds are flying south? Maybe I should have made them drab brown/grey on a steely blue snow sky! Tis the season!!!! Heavy frost this morning ...... again! :(

It's kind of fun doing hte travelling thru all the pages, isn't it? I do that every time I post. It kind of seems like a reward! And each time I surprise myself at "new" blocks .... well not new, just that I'd forgotten about them from when I looked before! :)

Thanks. A little trick I picked up while doing the baskets and the its templates was to place a dab of washable stick glue (ie Elmer's) on the template before cutting out the fabric piece. Then I topped the template with a small ruler to cut the straight edges. Worked great as the template stayed put and there was no pin in the paper or fabric creating a hump and distorting your finished fabric cut.

I've sometimes used basting spray for tricky pieces.
And if it's two fabric pieces together (eg. squares for HST), I spray them with starch or sizing, then press with hot iron to hold in place while I stitch.
