No, Givio, I didn't change it. I saw that some did and those look pretty too. But what I saw in this block was a diagonal "Irish Chain" running through the block. I liked it, but I think my light blue should have been a very bold dark blue to really pull it off. The example in the book is the best one I've seen to really show off that diagonal.

It was fun and I like the prints, but I consider it a bit of a failure as to carrying out the design.

Yes, yes, that is what I thought on second thought, that you had used the book pattern and I had changed it. I was too lazy to go upstairs to examine the book and just posted my comment without looking. Now that you mention the diagonal look, I wonder if this pattern would be a nice one to use repeatedly on a whole quilt...

Oh yeah... with blocks turned right and left for the criss cross effect! Great idea!

Someone at my quilting group brought in one of these blocks that was 12.5". Her daughter made it and set the printer to 200%. It was beautiful and if I was going to do a quilt of all one block, I think I might try making bigger blocks too. Wonder what you'd get setting the printer at 150%... about a 9" block?

That particular block would be easy to draft. It's based on an 8 grid. Cut strips, and make it the size you like. You could do squares, rectangles, and flying geese, or do HSTs for the triangle parts.

Sewbiz, I like your blue in the April block..There's no predictability in the way the blue print moves, just like the month of April..
