The FWS Pony Club Quilt-Along Wk 22 Handy Andy & Hen and Her Chicks Photo Page

Time for all the sweet stuff ladies !!! I found some Chicken fabric that has little chicks and the Mama too! All cut out ready to go. Fussy cutting is a pain but I think they are too cute not to do it any other way. H

My Handy Andy changed a bit; it started with a center that had me remembering the old song, "Pistol packing Mama, lay your pistol down", then went to the dogs...man's best friend: Name: HandyAndy.JPG

Size: 115.1 KBThe Duke is at the head of the table, Deputy Dawg against the wall where he can see who enters the 'Spur Bar', Smiley is the one looking in the mirror, so he can see an image of himself, making others think there are two of them...twins. You can name the other characters as you wish.

Now Hen and chicks were a bit easier to do; had fun with this one:Name: OldHen&Chickens.JPG

Size: 103.3 KBOf course its hard to keep a chicken in its pen...and they need the chicken wire around them, so I added the solid border around to keep the chickens safe. Our 'chicks' are growing so fast...the dark cornish chicks have a 'hawk' beak and feet like a sparrow that grasps the wire outside and hangs on to it much like a bird would...two escaped the pen and did a demo...showing me what they could do. I did get them back in with the others.

Camera angled the picture, the blocks are square. Need to work on that camera angle and holding it steady...hard for me to line up the picture square with one eye...

Handy Andy--All the fabrics are on the sections of paper but dh got home before I could sew them all together so you get to see it stacked a bit.

Hen and Her Chicks reminded me of the Alabama block...I like this one better I think.

Everyone's "fun" blocks are great to look at...love the dogs, variety of hens and chicks, horses/cows, and fowl too.

Also like the blues...it is amazing how many different fabrics you've used! I look forward to seeing a picture with lots of blocks all laid out.

You ladies never disappoint! Great blocks everyone.
GrannyQ you achieve such nice contrast using the blue and white.
CarrieM I love the fabrics you're using-very soothing and pretty.
Jeannie love the light blue and your "lucky" chicken with the horseshoes.

Beautiful blocks from everyone this week.

QNS - your blocks always bring a smile to my face with a wonderful story, however today it was more like a good old laugh as I looked at your Deputy Dawgs
Termi - Your fussy cutting is great well done
JanRN - What a beautiful Hen and Chickens block
GrannyQ - Love your Ohio Star it really stand out
Carriem - you have chosen beautiful fabric for your blocks, love small print florals
JeanieG - Beautiful blocks, at least your hen has pretty flowers to peck

Not real happy with my Handy Andy, I could have used a higher contrast for the centre but I am trying to use up little bits

QNSue...love how you have such fun with your blocks. You are so creative.

Termi...your fabric choices are so neat for these blocks with great fussy cutting and such exact points.

janRN..."fowl blocks" ...and you can really crow about them too. Nice work

GrannyQ...when I saw your hen and chicks, it was so easy to see the 9 patch. I never saw it before since I was thinking in thin strips. The white pinwheels are perfect on the dotted background.

Carriem...it doesn't look like your back pain slowed you down very much. I like your fabrics.

Jeanie...your hen and chicks is so attractive with the fussy cutting and Andy is so peaceful with your fabric choices. I'm seeing that some of my combinations are too busy and the block pattern losses it's effect.

Mirabelle...your blocks are so easy to pick out week after week. I love your fabric and your workmanship is always tops.

Oh what pretty fabric you have for Handy Andy, gardnergal! I agree with you on the chicken fabric - did not know they made so many different patterns!
