thank you so much ESQ for solving the mystery.

Is this the transparent paper? I've only used Carol Doaks newspaper on top, fabric below sewing the backside. What purpose does transparent paper make?

i use a transparent type paper when i do paper piecing. i find it easier to work with because i can see thru it and it rips easily from the seams.

a couple of people on the forum have tried it.

here's a link to the paper

Thank you Klue

I think I caught the bug from Cutebuns. I'm going to try a couple of the blocks tonight and see how it goes. Can't let her be through before I get started. lol

I HAVE to do something! I really have too much fabric that is just sitting there. And I won't tell how many projects I have started. I am 72 and I don't think I can live long enough to use the fabric I do have not to count that when my year is over I know I will buy more! :D
Phyllis in Mo

I think more than one of us can relate to that!

Really!?! I've been quilting for 18 years and I am really starting to go through my stash. Maybe I should plan to take a vacation near you gals who have all this extra fabric!! I promise to help you with your 'problem'.

Anyone coming out to visit Yellowstone, just drag along an extra box of fabric or two and I will be sure to meet you and take it off your hands!

Can you buy the DJ book in a local store (like JoAnn's)? Or is it only available to buy online? I'd like to see about doing a practice block or two, but need a pattern. hehe I think once I fully commit to this, I'll use Xmas money to buy the software.

Some of the patterns are very easy, like there is a 9 patch and variations using the nine patch. There is a lot of blocks to choose from that are easy and then some get way more involved.

I know my local Joanns doesn't carry it. I would guess it's one of those things that is either only available online or at the bigger stores in larger cities.

Ok, I was hoping for some instant gratification. hehehe I'm sure my DJ rulers are up the street in my mailbox; just need to go get them. I've been feeling SO bad, and having to work anyway, so when I'm home, I'm attached to the couch or bed. Not even sewing anything. :(

((((hugs)))) It's never fun to not feel good. I've got a ton of health problems and I'm headed to the doc in two hours to deal with a case of strep throat so you have my complete sympathy. I had planned to finish quilting a baby quilt today but the most I can muster is to crawl out of bed and over here to the computer (5 whole feet) and sit in the chair. I sure hope you feel better soon!!! At least those of us who are feeling punky are able to hang out together and not share our germs.

most joann's won't have the book or the software in the store but a nice LQS might have one or both.

in my area all the LQS have the book, software, and rulers but they also teach classes on how to make a jane that kind of thing.
