Beautiful blocks and colors.

bibliostone 08-28-2012 01:33 PM

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I love the sun fabric. If I had had enough of the sun fabric, I would have put some in the flip-flop block. Alas, all I have left are some scraps. Not enough to get four 2 inch blocks out of it.

So, Sulabug. any Sept. hints for us? Sewing minds want to know...

I didn't think it would look like August in purple (plus, I did not want to make another one), so here are my August flip-flops. The colors are off. It is purple, light green, and yellow.:

WOW!! :D What pretty blocks you have made this month. I love your Exploding Star, as it is so warm & welcoming looking. It really represents the Summer Sun that most of us are all having. Also your flip flop block is just darling, I love it too!! You always make such cute blocks. Thanks for sharing with all of us!!

Hmmm____ How am I going to make a purple maple leaf? For those of us planning to use this calendar quilt as a Christmas gift, any chance we could get November and December blocks at the same time so we have a little time to get it finished? Just something to consider.

Make it a dk purple - we have leaves here that give that impression! Guess it is more of a reddish purple but kids say they are purple!

Here is the block I choose to do for August! I'm a Carol Doak fan so I substituted one of her blocks for the one chosen.

Hugs,
Cajun

Now bibliostone...............what makes you think that the September block is going to be a Maple Leaf? :D It could also be an Oak Leaf or maybe a house block too. Whatever the choice is, I think purple will be the best color ever for it!! :D I will be posting the new pattern tonight after midnight, my time. Hope you enjoy it!!

I am going to have to wait until my Carol Doak paper-piecing paper arrives to do that Cat in Pumpkin card block. My fabric tears from the tracing paper I've been using.. this block is like 3" x 3" when finish so there are tiny piecings!

Hugs,
Cajun

My Cat In Pumpkin PP Block

Okay I finally got my Carol Doak Paper-Piecing Paper in and here is my block. The center part which is 3" x 3" was in two parts, a 1" x 3" and a 2" by 3"...so you can see what a trip dealing with those small, small pieces was. My scratch pad paper kept separating from the fabrics so I had to have good quality paper to do it.

I added the black border and pumpkin fabric on my own. This pattern is for card inserts!

Hugs,
Cajun

Cajunbear...love your block!
I'm playing catchup...I decided to not do the pp block; instead I picked a block out of my calendar (365 blocks), it's called thunder & lightening...that's what we get here, usually, in Aug. So I thought it was very fitting. If you look closely at the blue sky fabric, it has metalic lightening coming out of it...perfect block for that fabric! :)

WOW!! :D I guess you have really been playing catch up working on your 2012 Calendar theme blocks. I am so glad that you are getting caught up. That sky fabric with the silver lightening is fantastic. I love it, it makes your block really stand out nicely. Nice choice of block pattern. Thank you for sharing with all of us. We love Show & Tell, don't we?
