I sure did send it BIG enough.Don't look to close at it.

Jeanine 01-04-2012 05:02 PM

It is lovely, Mary.

lovelyl 01-04-2012 05:30 PM

I have the 4 template A's paper pieced, but am having trouble with template B. I have never paper pieced before and am having trouble figuring out how big to rough cut the pieces so that after you sew the seam and open it up it will cover the whole pattern. It seems like I always cut it too short to cover all the way to the point. Is there some formula or trick that I don't know about???

lawsonmugs 01-04-2012 05:41 PM

Thanks Jeanine. Linda I lay a piece of fabric on top as if it were sewn, then flip it back and sew it.

lawsonmugs 01-04-2012 05:44 PM

After I posted it I was wondering do we show them anytime or wait for all together?

Mary,
Your are most Welcome!! :D You may post your block picture's at any time you want too. Those who get done faster & post their's, always help those who aren't to sure about how to make their's & it's a big help to them. I hope that you will post your block on the picture thread too. That way we can be sure that everyone gets to see your beautiful work!!

Mary if you go back to "Home" and go into the "Swaps" you'll find another thread for this group where we post our photo's each mth of the blocks...There are abt 5-6 others that others have posted, so if you go there you will not be alone...

jojo47 01-05-2012 08:07 AM

Thank you, Sulabug, for this pattern. Hopefully I'll get at some of my projects now that the holidays are over!

This is the first time that I have "committed" to a block of the month on this board but decided that this is the year. I can see that I am way behind already. This looks like a fun project and I am excited to get started.

lawsonmugs 01-05-2012 04:49 PM

It took me about 2 hrs to make and 1 hr of ripping.lol

I'm jumping on the wagon too. I don't know if I've bitten off more than I can do this year, but I liked this idea of a January block with snowmen and snowflakes and hoping February will be hearts and valentines etc.. So here is my first block- January!

Didn't we just start? There's a lot of January left, I keep telling myself. I too have not started. Perhaps this weekend . . .

Jeanine 01-05-2012 04:59 PM

klgreene: Those mittens are so cute! Like it.

klgreene 01-05-2012 05:01 PM

Thanks Jeanine, I figured, here in NM where I live, we get snow, but not enough to make a snowman, but it's cold enough to wear mittens.

JeanieG 01-05-2012 05:03 PM

Oh very nice klgreene! I have not started mine yet, gotta get my butt in gear!

Thanks Sulabug, but before I get confused, k stands for Katie, I won't know if you are talking to me or someone else. I've been called worse lol, I should just have admin. change my name. But then I'm afraid other people won't know me. It's another reason I haven't changed my picture.

And Jeanie, I used to live in Thousand Oaks up by the college. So much prettier there than my neck of NM.

prezzy 01-05-2012 06:45 PM

I am new to pp and it took me 2 hr just to do one part. lol i think by the end of the month I will have the block done. What I have got done looks good.

JeanieG 01-05-2012 07:14 PM

Lots of new PP'ers! You go girls, you will be pleased to learn a new procedure!

SulaBug 01-05-2012 11:44 PM

Katie,
The laugh is on me!! :D I have no idea where I came up with Karen, but now I will remember that your first name is Katie!! :D Thanks for letting me know. I still love your block & was wondering if green might be your favorite color. I know it is mine, but I picked blue for my Snow Blossom. All of the color combination's are turning out just Great.

Happy New Year, SulaBug and thank you so much for our Snowblossom block. I just printed the pattern and will begin as soon as I can. I'm a little behind now on everything. My dear mother passed away and I had to travel to Pennsylvania on New Years Eve and I've just returned home. Looking forward, as always, to seeing everyone's work.

Love your block and the fabrics you used. I haven't decided yet what fabrics I'm using for this BOM...I have some batiks and would like to use them.

Surfergirl 01-06-2012 05:27 AM

For those of you who are having difficulty printing your patterns, I switch from Firefox to Internet Explorer when I print these patterns and they always print correctly...hope this helps some of you.

Lynn: I'm so sorry your mother passed away. It is difficult I'm sure. Am glad you have sewing/quilting waiting for you. It sure helped me with my feelings (my husbands mother, who was like a second mother). Take care.

Yes green is my favorite color, but also my last name, and I have absolutely no idea if that is the reason why. Although, I don't think there is a color I don't like, but as I look around, green seams to be in every quilt in some way.

lovelyl 01-06-2012 11:16 AM

Mary - my sympathies on the loss of your mother.

Dearest Lynn,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother. I know there is nothing I can say to ease your pain, but just let you know that I am thinking about you & sending prayers your way. Take care & delve into your sewing & your Snow Blossom's block. I am sure it will bring you some comfort in the days to come. We LOVE you.

I finally got all my sections pieced together! Once I caught on to what I was doing it went quickly and I decided I like paper piecing! I am taking a break with a cup of tea and want to do some yard work while it is warm outside (50 in January in Ohio!!!!!). Then I will sew the sections together and post a pic. Thanks to all who posted helpful video links, hints and suggestions!
