1 January 2012 BOM pattern & discussion.

Happy New Year Everyone!! :D

My choice for January 2012 BOM is called Snowblossom's from Quilter'sCache.com.

I hope everyone enjoys making their block as much as I did making mine. It reminds me of a snowflake & we always have snow in WA during the winter. Enjoy & please remember to post pictures of your blocks when you have finished them. Thank you for joining in on the FUN!!
:D :D :D :D

Very pretty block Sulabug...will get started as soon as time permits! Still have to do December's Star from 2011! Have all the rest done though, so I'll have a wonderful Star quilt to show for it!

SulaBug 01-01-2012 04:40 PM

Thank you everyone for the kind comments about this block for January. I thought it was such a pretty block & a very easy paper pieced block for everyone to get started on. I am so looking forward to the months to come. I hope everyone has FUN!!

Deecee 01-01-2012 08:52 PM

I'm a little late but I have found you Sulabug.

Lovely block - I have to smile about the name though - it's hitting 100F. here at present so won't be sewing today.

This is great. Very pretty block. This BOM project fits right in with my new years resolution to do more quilting this year. This will be my first paper pieced block. Can't wait for everyone to get out of bed so I can get to my qr and get started.

sewhappy30 01-02-2012 07:19 AM

Think I might join along this year.

memereof8 01-02-2012 07:30 AM

Thank you for the pretty block. Taking the tree down then will pick my fabric.

lovelyl 01-02-2012 09:02 AM

Love the block! I have never attempted paper piecing before, so here goes....

lawsonmugs 01-02-2012 09:38 AM

Sulabug,I have printed the pattern but the instruction page won't let me print it.How do I print it? Mary

PolkaBabe 01-02-2012 10:19 AM

Thank you for the photo of the block. I believe that I will join in on this one.

Mossie 01-02-2012 11:26 AM

Hi, Sulabug,
I've never done a BOM before but I think this is a good one to start on. Thanks for doing this.

thanks for posting this very pretty block, I have very little time but one block a month should be doable.

That's what I was thinking too.lol

urgodschild2 01-02-2012 01:19 PM

Count me in too. I have never paper pieced before so this will be interesting. A new learning skill. Yeah. It is a pretty block. I have to decide which way I am going with this.

lovelyl 01-02-2012 01:52 PM

I printed everything out, but the paper piecing templates printed out small. Do I enlarge them? How much? The typing at the top of the page says scaled 55%. Is that the way it is supposed to be? Sorry for being stupid but I have never paper pieced before!

JeanieG 01-02-2012 02:20 PM

I had trouble too. I finally double clicked on the file and it brought up Paint. These are usually pdf files, but this one is a GIF. I had to change it to 100% in Paint and it printed perfectly. Very frustrating I know! Hope this helps.

Kim Bohannon 01-02-2012 02:28 PM

beautiful choice! I have 3 copies of the pattern printed off already and can't wait to get started! this will be my first PP project! I'm soooo ecxited!!!!!!

lawsonmugs 01-02-2012 04:42 PM

I started PP not to long ago. When I copy a pattern i aways do an extra copy so if I want to make more later I have a set to copy. Then I don't have to hunt them up online.lol

Thanks! I managed to get it changed in my printer software. At least I think it is the right size - the seam allowances do measure 1/4". Hope I am good to go! Thanks for your help.

buttonmorph 01-03-2012 09:39 AM

going to try this out! I am excited. thanks for posting... and finding a great 1st block!

lawsonmugs 01-03-2012 09:54 AM

Change the scale in Print Preview...to 100%

kdcandy 01-03-2012 06:53 PM

Thanks for leading me to the thread with the block pattern, Deecee. Do you have any hints as to how I can find them each month?

On the first day of the month, check out the Blocks of the Week and Month section. The threads will be posted on the 1st of each month.

jaciqltznok 01-03-2012 07:07 PM

there must be TWO different topics for 2012 BOM....I thought we were doing STARS??

Deecee 01-03-2012 07:31 PM

Jacquie 2012's theme is Calendar - something relative to each month.

Last year one of the BOM's was Stars. If you are looking for star patterns you could still get them from the BOM index page.

klgreene 01-03-2012 07:39 PM

Jacquie, there are two Block topics, this is a BOM and the one with the stars is a BOW 50 Fabulous Stars by Carol Doak.

Deecee 01-03-2012 08:02 PM

Sorry - I forgot to mention Carol Doaks 50 Fab Stars. For this one you need to either purchase the book or buy the on-line download of the patterns.

If you are after free patterns - try last year's star BOM (15th of each month).

SulaBug 01-04-2012 01:02 AM

I hope that everyone is finding the answer's to all of the question's they have. This is a fairly easy paper pieceing pattern & I thought it would be a good start for the year. Keep on sewing & having fun. I will be anxiously waiting to see all of the pictures of your finished block's!!
