SulaBug, Lovelyl, Jeanine...Thank you so much! I'm still not able to work on my quilting but, hopefully, I will be soon.

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-07-2012 06:37 PM

I think I will try and join the fun! One block a month, maybe I can do it. I have a BOM going with my guild. We are at #5 and I haven't made one of them yet. I am also going to do another BOM with another guild, actually there are four 10 in blocks that make 1 big block. Well I will try to keep up.

Lynn, I'm sorry to hear about your mother, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

ragqueen03 01-08-2012 06:42 AM

i think i am going to attempt this this year. never did a block of the month but it looks like fun. i am going to committ myself to only using my stash (ha ha) - how many times have we all said this?

grammy of 6 01-08-2012 10:02 AM

I never joined a BOM, but am going to try the Craftsy BOM. Hope I can keep up!

JudyG 01-08-2012 02:15 PM

Grammy of 6, you can still do this one, we just got started and have a whole year ahead of us. Just one little block a month.

grammy of 6 01-08-2012 07:57 PM

Thanks for the encouragement JudyG!

grammy of 6............I know you can do this one, too!! :D I have seen your work & it is all beautiful. So jump right in & get your block started. It is a really fun one to make. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your block when it is all done.

YEAH!!!! I finally got template printed at 100% and made 3 of each :) First step: COMPLETE!
Now on to look thru my fabric to see if I have what I want to use - I hope...don't want to have to buy :(
Just to let other people know how easily I got it to 100% (even tho it took me awhile).
When you go to print...i put the cursor over it and saw the magnifier with a plus...clicked on it...the template went bigger, printed and the measurement came out correctly. Small step for other people, BIG step for me! Couldn't say GIANT because saving the that word for my block.

I guess the gremlins were at work during the night! I posted that I had made my block and a picture. I had to fudge to get the block done, I have never paper pieced, had tried it once before, never mastered it. Well, I did try this one, even with the help of Cajun Bear, it was a lost cause, so between nerves & headache I made templates and did it the piecing way. I will try paper piecing again. I'm going to use these colors with every block, am using stash, so we shall see how it all turns out..

No gremlins at work. :D Your post and pic is still there on the Picture thread. :D

JudyG 01-09-2012 03:23 PM

Well, whether you paperpieced it or not, it's a very pretty star. Congratulations on getting it done. That's my goal for this week, to get it done.

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-09-2012 03:32 PM

Sulabug, This question may have already been asked, but should I be doing the blocks in different colors. The first block blue and white for snow, Feb. red or pink, March green, etc. I have noticed that others are picking colors to use for the entire quilt, but if they are going to coordinate with the calendar I would like to use different colors to match that particular month. If this gives away to much of the mystery then I will just guess and hope I make the right choice. I don't mind the scrappy look and I could use stash.

Jeanine 01-09-2012 04:17 PM

Hi Toomanyjufo's: I am using the scrappy look myself. Will try to sort of use colors for that month, depending on what I have in my scrap. One of the wonderful things about this BOM is what you use it up to you. To have fun doing it.

Deecee 01-09-2012 04:52 PM

Toomanyufo - my seasons are the opposite of yours and some of my holiday celebrations aren't the same as yours anyway so I am using co-ordinadated fabrics for a baby quilt and just using the actual pattern when the month doesn't "match" what's happening at my end of the world.

Everyone can do their own thing and go scrappy or keep a common fabric through the whole quilt.

I just enjoy being a part of this BOM and seeing everyone's interpretation of each block.

JeanieG 01-09-2012 05:11 PM

I plan to go scrappy on this one as well. I'll use whatever fabric colors appeal to me for that particular month.

It looks like you have already received some very good answer's to your question. One of the greatest things about this BOM project, is that you can pick any farbic or color combination that you would like to. I picked blue for my block becasue it looks like winter to me. I will be picking different fabric's for the next block to go with the pattern or the month. I guess you would say that my blocks will be scrappy looking too. I thank everyone for helping out & wish all of you good luck making your 2012 block's. I hope we are all haivng FUN!!

SulaBug - Are you a night owl? Thank you for the welcome, I am excited about participating in my first BOM. I was very happy with how my block turned out as I have very little pp experience . I am looking forward to the next block of the year. I posted my picture, and love looking at what others have done with the same block.

You are so Welcome Marcialee..........your Snow Blossom block turned out perfect!! :D You did a great job making it & all of your seams line up nicely. Your fabric color's are very nice too. I love it & am so glad that you have shared with the rest of us quilters. Nice Job.
:D :D :D :D

PS: Your picture looks just fine to me, but if you think it is to big you can go into your computer & resize it. I had to do that to my pictures, as they were way to big to download. Good Luck!! :D

Will all the blocks be all paper piecing or a variety of different piecing methods? Not sure if this questions has been answered before, if so sorry I missed it.

Good Afternoon,
Never be sorry for missing something that might have been asked before. It can be hard to keep up with all of the many postings that happen on these threads. As for the question about the blocks, NO they won't all be paper pieced. I have no idea how many blocks in the future will be pp'd, but I do know there will be different methods of piecing selected through out the year. It is up to the person who signs up to pick the block for a certain month. I hope this answer's your question. Don't hesitate to ask any question, at any time.
:D :D :D :D
