Just for that, the next one is in brown and other earth tones.

When you see me put pink in a quilt, call homeland security cause someone kidnapped me and is impersonating moi.

Wow, Tim, I love the colors. I tried to PP the other day. Didn't come out very well. guess i need to practice more. What type of paper do you use when you PP? I didn't have anything but regular copy paper, maybe the thickness was the problem.

patricej 07-15-2007 04:14 AM

the thicker the paper, the smaller the stitches need to be so it'll tear off easily.

i've been tearing apart the fanfold paper with carbons in between designed for dot matrix printers. the individual sheets are 15 lb paper. (normal copy paper is 20 lb) i bought a HUGE box years and years ago to use for a lot of different things. i'm almost out, though, so i'm going in search of tracing paper light enough to tear easily but heavy enough to survive a printer.

next stop ... WallyWorld

I use regular copy paper also. It hasn't been an issue. As Patrice says, instead of 2.5 on the old stitch length, I use between 1.5 and 2.

You might try a office supply store and see about a package of 15 wt. Copy paper. One ream will last you probably 10 years.

One of my friends uses "sandwich" paper - the kind they use for wrapping burgers - for her paper piecing. She staples a bunch of them together, with a regular paper pattern on top, then runs the stack thru' her machine with no thread, and 'sews' on all the stitching lines. Voila! A set of light-weight paper piecing papers, pre-perforated, easy to tear off when you're done.

Just another option....

I wish you lived next door to me. I could show you how in about twenty minutes. My instructions seem to leave a little bit to be desired.

Maybe you can find an article on paper piecing and take it from there?

tim

Country Quilter 07-24-2007 02:38 PM

I wish someone lived close by me that could teach me! LOL My past experiences with paper piecing almost ended up with broken windows in my house!

It would have been quicker to paper piece it! LOL
