My husband likes to look at 'night sky things.' But we had complete overcast clouds during the eclispe.

Dublb, dh used an old fan out of an old computer to blow on his tomato plants and we had fresh tomatoes from the inside plant. It blew pollen from one plant to another.

Think I need a few more blocks to complete my twisted classic quilt. Working on a another version of bear paw pattern for a friend. Love the challenge.

Have a great Sunday and a great week. Thought we had our car woes won; state title came with crediting that wrong bank. Time for another round of talks to straighten it out...again.

JuneBillie 02-04-2018 10:27 AM

Great moon pics, and yummy to the tomatoes.

It's rainy and cold here today. I cut out and sewed some strips together to make two candle mats for my sister's birthday to put in their cards made out of a piece of our dad's shirt, and fabric out of a dress our mother made herself years ago. I think they will be surprised, but can sit them in front of their pictures in their bedrooms or wherever and put a little candle on them or tiny little box. I had planned to make them into memory bears, but that made me feel too sad. This was easier.

Have a nice Sunday and week ahead. :)

dublb 02-05-2018 06:52 AM

OH Sue! Your twisted Classic combo is wonderful! It just sings! OH & just look at that wonderful Bear Paw! :)

dublb 02-05-2018 07:02 AM

I went to Midland & picked up my DM yesterday. I am so excited to have her here for a bit. I will take her back on Thurs. The thing is I am supposed to pick up a DF from the Abilene air port on Thurs night. DM wanted me to take her back to Midland on Wed but I didn't want to drive to Midland then drive back home. Then drive to & from Abilene on Thurs night. I will drive to Midland then (taking a triangular route) drive to Abilene that night before driving home.
I am excited about my DF coming as we are going to to go to quilt retreat in Brownwood.

sewbizgirl 02-05-2018 07:19 AM

Gorgeous work, Sue! That blue in the quilt! That's going to be a beauty.

Bev, have a fun week with your mom and then your friend.

oksewglad 02-05-2018 07:54 AM

What a striking quilt, QNS! Bonnie is right, it sings. Your fussy cutting on the Bear's Paw is to notch, as always.

QuiltingNinaSue 02-05-2018 09:12 AM

Thanks everyone. Your comments made my day a little brighter.

mmac71 02-05-2018 05:53 PM

That Bear Claw block is beautiful! Was the pattern in a book?

givio 02-05-2018 06:35 PM

I don't remember seeing that type of Bear Claw pattern. It looks like a double bear claw for each corner. Very cute with the bear prints!
You've been busy! The blue/green top is really progressing! The fabric of the star points and the Xs coordinates very well, like they were made for each other.

JuneBillie 02-06-2018 07:15 PM

QNS your bear claw is great with the little bears. Your twisted classic combo is so pretty in those colors.

Bev it sounds like a great time with your mom and friend.

Off to visit with our new doctors this morning; our clinic we have used for 12 years told us our insurance was not accepted. But then they called later and said they did and apologized. I told them after this morning we would decide on what choice we would make then.

My Twisted Classic is not large enough, so will continue making blocks for it until it is 9 x 10 blocks, since each block is approximately 9 inches, then I will add borders. Doing a version of the Bear Paw in Christmas Colors. It is distracting me from my bucket list...lol!.

Have a good day!

oksewglad 02-08-2018 07:49 AM

LOL, QNS, all those different projects detract me from my gotta do list! Farm taxes to the accountant and will be a part of history soon. Great feeling, but now onto thisngs I didn't get done...that darn gotta do list.

Hope your MD appts go okay...

QuiltingNinaSue 02-08-2018 06:07 PM

We had the wrong time down for DH appointment and he missed his and he was very unhappy about the situation and they could not work him in (waiting room empty!) but I told him he was looking at the problem from his view only. There are always two sides to a story and dealing with only one view means you have half of the story.

I loved the lady doctor I talked to; will see her again in three months. She will only do the blood tests every six months, not every three months that the old clinic did in the past. Less cost to me and less insurance monies that way, which is a win-win situation. There are no issues or problems to worry about and that is great news. You go online and check out your health records just like I do at our bank. I hope it all works out as good as it sounds.

We did go on to Cantril today and I found some good choices for more Christmas fabric and a couple of projects on my bucket list. That number of Christmas quilts has grown to four or six quilts now...LOL, reminds me of the quick reproduction of rabbits! The latter happens quicker than I can piece and quilt! But I love to 'design and plan' one quilt after another!. And 'love pat' more fabric.

JuneBillie 02-08-2018 06:29 PM

QNS glad your appointment went well, well except for your hubby not getting in.
The clinic we go to has the records we can see online too in their portal. It is handy for sure.

Christmas is coming! Extended bear paw again.just maybe I can finish it before Christmas!

Wild Sunday with his cousin and wife coming down to play cards.. When they went to leaved, his keys had gotten locked in his truck. We offered the old Chrysler to them and gave them the keys. They came back because it had a flat rear tire. So we all loaded up in the new used Chrysler and drove to get their spare keys. Dh had to give up the driver's seat and let his younger cousin finish the drive up and back. No deer crossed the road that was seen in nearby fields. They got their truck started and left about eight o'clock...sife was busy this morning making a another set of truck keys. All in all, it was a fun and good day!

JeanieG 02-12-2018 11:50 AM

QNS - just love those Bear Paw Patterns! The one with the bear fabric is so clever! The Twisted Classic Pattern is great too. Love the fabrics you chose. So glad you liked your new Dr. I have a woman Dr. and just love her.

We are off for our first camping trip of the year with our RV Group. So much fun and great food too!

I have 1/3 of my On Ringo Lake Mystery Quilt put together. I am using the main blocks as leaders/enders and only have 6 to go. I was so upset last night as I found I had put one of the sashing strips on backwards, so all the triangle points were going the wrong way. I had found 3 of the triangles and already corrected them, now to do the other 7. Darn!!! Will get it done when we get back from our trip on Thursday.

I am feeling much better since I am almost finished with my 2nd batch of antibiotics for the flu/bronchitis/sinusitis. Thank you Lord!!!

JuneBillie 02-12-2018 01:30 PM

QNS that another pretty block, and I like those fabrics together.
Jeanie it sounds like you are progressing on your quilt blocks, and have fun on your camping trip. My son and daughter in law do that a lot with their RV. He has been working on making his own tear drop tiny camper.

oksewglad 02-12-2018 03:07 PM

Maybe some fresh air will do you good Jeanie...the "flu" has hung around in our neck of the woods as well.

A visit to remember, QNS. Nice colors in the bear block...

I tried uploading pictures last night...my new camera's photos are too big...I found out how to decrease the resolution on the camera, but not how to downsize the pictures already downloaded to the computer. Had our monthly guild meeting today. Another member and I put together a Cathedral Window presentation. She had written up very good directions for me to follow...I just assisted. Our next SitNSew is a workshop on the block. It's really quite simple once you get the hang of it.

givio 02-13-2018 04:39 PM

oksewglad, To downsize the pictures that are loaded onto your computer hard drive: You could open your Paint program; then open your .jpg picture; then use the 'print screen' button on your keyboard to copy the picture image; then use the 'paste' button in the menu of the Paint program to display the copied image in Paint; then in the Paint menu, use the 'select' button to select the part of your picture you want (you need to drag a square line around it, because the 'print screen' button will copy everything that is on your monitor screen); then select the 'crop' button in the Paint menu to cut off the outside unwanted stuff of the image; then use the 'resize' button in the Paint menu to resize the cropped picture to the size you want; then use the 'file' button in the Paint screen to 'save as' a .jpg to your hard drive-- so you can then have your picture in a smaller size to use.

oksewglad 02-13-2018 07:06 PM

Thanks givio. I often crop my pictures...gets rid of unnecessary background junk...also have a newer computer and haven't found the place to resize the resolution on this one. I will give your method a try.

QuiltingNinaSue 02-14-2018 06:01 AM

OK, JeanieG told me about Picasso, a free program and easy to use to put photos into your computer and size them to and export to desktop...you can even 'write' on the photo, put dates on them etc., love using it with my simple mind. LOL! Works with my Windows 10. Although it did a great job of scrabbling my FWSQ and FWPC quilt blocks in the transfer. not going back and straighten them out!

sewbizgirl 02-14-2018 07:27 AM

There are lots of ways to edit photos, but I wish I could just set my Iphone to take smaller ones in the first place. Is that possible? It's a lot of rigamarole to edit photos once they are uploaded.

Hope everyone's going to have a fabulous day! I just hope the sun comes out....

oksewglad 02-14-2018 08:41 AM

Bonnie, you might want to check go to camera and then settings in your menu.

Can't find anything like that. Where is 'go to camera' and the menu on an Iphone?

oksewglad 02-14-2018 11:15 PM

LOL I have a flip phone with minutes contract...down in the valley gets little cell reception so no need to have a fancier phone. A search yielded this information for you to check on. Best of luck.

sewbizgirl 02-15-2018 06:27 AM

Thanks OK. It looks like the resolution setting for photos is not "user changeable". I may have to go to the Apple store and see if they can help me.

QuiltingNinaSue 02-16-2018 06:32 AM

In bit of a shock 'cause I opened the daily newspaper here to find out my sister-in-law (brother's wife) had died on Monday, but he and family did not call me. That hurts. May she rest in peace. My prayers are with them as they struggle to accept their loss. He is my only brother and we were raised with love of foster grandparents, then he found religion and refused many times to accept family ties. But it does not stop the love and the hurt.

sewbizgirl 02-16-2018 09:06 AM

I'm so sorry, NinaSue.... Sorry for your loss and sorry that you were not included in the family bereavement. The basis of religion is love, so wonder what your brother's problem is. I'm sure it hurts. Big hugs to you.

grannyQ 02-16-2018 09:18 AM

Nina, So sorry to hear about your sister in laws. I know what you are going thru, when my mother passed away, one brother didn't want anything to do with the rest of us. Maybe someday things will change. My brother and I go to breakfast once a week now. Our sister passed on the 22 of August, his wife the 24 of August and my husband on the 1st of September all in 2016.
My oldest son had a stroke on tuesday, thankfully hie wife is an RN so she knew what to do, and took him to the ER. They transfered him to U of Iowa, the MRI showed he did have a stroke. He came home on Wednesday night and has to wear a heart moniter for 30 days. He had triple by pass 4 years ago.
My prayers are with you and hubby at this time.

QuiltingNinaSue 02-16-2018 09:32 AM

Thank you all for your kind words. This too shall pass; may God's work continue on this Earth. What will be, will be.

I count my blessings and continue my quilting feeling blessed.

givio 02-16-2018 04:35 PM

QNS, I'm sorry that your grief is compounded by that 'being the last to know', or 'they didn't care enough to tell me' feeling.
GrannyQ, I'm sorry to hear about your son's troubles.
Yes, counting our blessings and being grateful for what we can do, what we have, who we love and who loves us-- these can brighten our day and comfort us.

dublb 02-16-2018 07:20 PM

OH HUGGS & Prayers! QNS & GrannyQ. I will place you 2 in Gods hands & let him comfort ya'll. May his love envelope both of you & your families. HUGGS & Prayers again.

dublb 02-16-2018 08:11 PM

I feel like my backside has become attached to the seat of my Sequoia. I have driven somewhere every day for the last 2 weeks. Even the days I was at the retreat we drove into town at least once each day. As ya'll remember I went & got DM last week & we looked at houses every day. Then the day I took her back, I drove from midland to Abilene to pick up my DF then back to Brady. The next day she & I went to a retreat in Brownwood. The retreat was out by the lake. Oh the time we had! She stayed an extra day & we spent it looking at the 'big' City of Brady. We also were on a mission to get her a T-Shirt that represents Texas. Well all the regular places were a bust. We finally went to the Chamber of Commerce & they didn't have any either but told us where we could get one made. They were wonderful & had the shirt she wanted made in an hour.
Tues I took her back to the airport & drove back.
Wed I went into town w/DH & we took a ton of aluminum cans to sell.
Thurs DH & I drove to DeLeon to pick up some fruit trees. At least this time I was in his truck! :)
Today I went & picked DM back up. She had me make another list of houses to look at. Our real Estate guy has us set up to look at 'me on Monday.
Tomarrow I will be helping DH to plant trees. :) I do not plan on going anywhere till Monday, when we will start looking at houses again. We will be in (Yup) my Sequoia.

JeanieG 02-16-2018 08:18 PM

Oh QNS - I am so sorry that this happened to you! Perhaps someone was suppose to call you, and thought someone else had! I am sorry for your loss!

GrannyQ - thank goodness for the daughter-in-law's knowledge! I hope your son mends quickly.

We had a great RV trip. We had 11 RV's, and it was a very casual fun time.

JuneBillie 02-16-2018 09:42 PM

Jeanie it's good to hear you had a great RV trip.

QNS I am sorry to hear what happened. ( I have something terrible that me and my youngest sister had to live through the day after our dad died, but I still can't even talk about it yet).

I have some kind of crud. My dear husband picked me up a z-pack of antibiotics. I hope it takes care of it. We are suppose to get enough rain again that will cause some low places to flood. We live on a hill so we don't, but roads can flood that keeps us from getting to somewhere.

Blessings to all on here.

sewbizgirl 02-16-2018 11:00 PM

GrannyQ, hope that wearing the heart monitor will help the dr.s figure out what your son needs. What a blessing his wife is a nurse and was there with him. Pray he recovers fully.

Bev, know what you mean about all the running around. I can't drive nearly as much as I used to because of a spine problem, but I can't stand having to go somewhere all the time, anyway. I love days where I can just stay home and sew.

Susan, I have trauma related to my father's death, too. I have to make myself not think about it... not "go there"... so I don't get bogged down with terrible feelings. I try to look ahead and forget the hurts left behind. When I find myself revisiting the situation in my mind, I just have to make myself stop and think about something else. Thank goodness the past is past!

dublb 02-20-2018 07:22 AM

Somebody stop this Merry-Go-Round as I want to get off! Looking at houses & planting trees, I am one tired puppy. I even woke up tired.
We finally got the last fruit tree in the ground yesterday afternoon. I wish we didn't have to put fencing around each of 'em. (Have I said how much I hate deer now? Well I do! They eat everything!)

We will look at 2 housed today. One at noon & one at 2:00. I do still think the one DM looked at, the last time she was here, is gonna be the One. She just wants to be sure.

How nice that your mother is soon going to be living near you, Bev! Hope she makes her decision on a house today so you can get some rest.

I agree with you about the deer. So pretty but so destructive to all growing things! I gave up on trying to grow a vegetable garden because of them.
