Janie, you have no idea how relieved I am that you like the block!!! I first started with coral shades & it did have polka dots & paisley too...I hated the center so I started this one...I felt the turquoise/aqua block needed a sister...

We arrived at 9 p.m. tonight after several stops and for dinner...unpacking & putting away stuff here is easy...this house doesn't have 44 yrs of stuff in it.. Will take some photos & show you all...
DH does most of the driving...I could only stand about 1-1/2 hrs..the braking hurts my knee too much...We're coming back home on the 23rd of November..in time to make the turkey!! YAY :D

Dublb, I love the thrift shops...we have 2 Goodwills in the area and on Wednesdays they have a 25% discount for seniors...It's great when you find stuff that will "fit in"..
QNS...You better not be doing what you're not supposed to be doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2200 miles!!!!! I would only do that by plane:D :D...Glad to have you back! get some well needed rest....

Did take a gander at all the posts but too much to comment on right now. Glad to hear everything's brighter for QNS. Two days on the road--three days of lots of activity--two days on the road again I'm bushed. Logged over 2200 miles of driving. Whew. Night all.

Might I ask where in the world did you go? It must feel good to be home again.

MiraB ... what a concept, fabric in the cupboard!!!! Just can't imagine THAT!!!!!!!!! (ya right!:D:D:D:D) Need another espresso jolt? Curious? what do you not want to spray baste OUAT? Looks like you have lots planned while your DH is in residence! :D

Honchey and JanieW ...
beautiful block! The colours and fabrics are wonderful!

JanieW ... heard on The National about your weather. And so it starts ... ugh!! ... Stay safe!

JeanieG ... such precious snow memories for you! I still love the snow, but do appreciate it being the post card picture perfect type!! :D You should take off in your RV for a snow visit this winter!! :D

OKSGlad ... Sew Glad you are back home, safe and sound. I had been thinking it must be a long drive ... and all by yourself? Now right back into the routine ... so much for resting up! :)

BlueBell ... I can only wish that OKSGlad had come to visit me in Canada! :(

Honchey ...
glad you too, have arrived safe and sound! Now to settle in and get into your southern routine. Does this mean that MrHonchey will hit the links first thing tomorrow morning? :D

DublB ... do you see yourself using the iron for sewing? or just for garments? I often think how handy an old mangle iron would be for pressing yardage. We had one when I was a kid, and was one of my jobs to iron things.

dublb 11-05-2013 09:33 PM

Hey QE I have no intention o' pressin' any clothes, ever! LOL I work hard at gittin' my cloths outta the dryer so as they don't have wrinkles. It's for fabric! I'll cut my fabric prep in half. :) Ok ta be honest I will press a few things for the occasional important event. LOL

Happy you arrived home safe and sound Oksewglad, I am sure you had a fun time with your sister.

Honchey also glad you arrived safe and sound.

QuiltE I have to spray baste the Once Upon A Time quilt, I can no longer get down on the floor to pin baste and have no flat surfaces large enough to do it on. So I use my ironing board, a bit tricky but it gets the job done..

Yesterday I finished cutting and sewing the strips for DD's Christmas quilt so today after I arrived home from delivering the quilts I sewed 3 blocks together. It is Hidden Wells pattern and once you have all the strips sewn it goes together quite fast. What looks like cream or white is actually cream with gold. I am hoping she likes it. The blocks are ending up approx. 17 inches so shouldn't need many and I have the border fabric of the large floral print which I can use for the final border.

MiraB ... ooooooooooh how I like your new quilt. Looks very romantic, for the romantic ones! :D

No way I'll do the crawl on the floor either. I did it once, years ago to tie a quilt when I took the QITD course ... and I swore NEVER again as my back was not impressed at all. To say the least about my knees! :D Luckily I have tables now, though as I make bigger sandwiches, I have been starting to think of a LA basting job. I like the spray basting and how it keeps it all together, and prevents puckers in the backing when FMQing, so will try to keep on with that.

Can you use the tables at one of your halls? Of course, that would "risk" comments from the peanut gallery ..... arrgghhhhhh!!

carriem 11-06-2013 05:50 AM

Mirabelle--when I spray baste, I actually go outside on a nice day (when the ground is dry) and spray my top and backing out there! Then I bring in to layer on a couple 6ft tables pushed together. No over spray or fumes to worry about. Pretty blocks...I am sure will become a beautiful quilt. :)

OK---good to see you back.

Honchey--glad you made it safely.

Great MBs for October. These are going to be some pretty quilts!!

I see a dr next week for a 2nd opinion on my shoulder. I am feeling bummed these days...cloudy weather hasn't helped. I do enjoy my visits here to see what everyone is up to though. :)
