JeanieG ... glad I am not the only one who is outright lost on this!

Anael ... maybe you know what you are looking for and will find it?

GGal .... come back come back! and enlighten we in the dark! :D:D:D

Another little tip from the tech, from another visit .... if you are wondering if your timing is off .... do some zigzag. If it looks OK, you do not have a timing issue. If it will not zigzag, timing is diagnosed!

The tension disks are what the thread goes through. Just thread the floss as though you were threading your needle and pull it through a couple of times.

Never heard of the dental floss trick before. I can see that lint would make its way into the tensioners.
I made Girl's Joy last night and it is waiting for you in the appropriate thread. :) It is #19.
I have the final Halloween batik fabrics waiting for me across the border. Unfortunately, because of the US holiday I can't pick them up until Tuesday. That is, if I can slip away from work a bit early. Wish me luck.

Too late to edit the post so: Homeward Bound is complete for your viewing pleasure, and trip down memory lane. :)
That makes 20 blocks complete. If I can do one more this weekend, and I doubt it, I will be 1/3 complete. That's if I stay with my original idea of the twin-63 blocks.

Oh wow, how easy is that - thanks so much gardnergal! Do you do this occasionally just to make sure it stays clean?

QNS what a cute wallhanging that will make...

QuiltE I am so pleased that you thread issues have been resolved.

GGal thanks so much for the floss tip, will defintely give that a try

DH went fishing yesterday at Port Douglas about 4 hours north of us, there were 8 of them all on a charter boat.

The first 2 pics are of a couple of fish that came home, the small one is a Mangrove Jack and the big one is a Red Emperor. He had another fish and we gave that one to our neighbour this morning. Just as well as we needed their expertise. Which leads me to the last photo. DH asked me to hold onto the fillet of the Red Emperor so he could finish filleting it off the carcass... Well the tip of his filleting knife went through the webbing of my hand between the ring and index finger. It took a long time for it to stop bleeding and then we called our neighbour over to the fence to take a look at it. (They are both doctors in private practice here) and that is when I started to feel funny and apparently went as white as a sheet and my skin felt all clammy, so they had me sitting on a chair while Doctor Tom was attending to my wound. He has said if it is still bleeding this afternoon to go to the hospital for stitches.

So I guess no sewing for me today:thumbdown:

Oh My Mirabelle,,,I hope you're okay! .. What a bummer !.. The fish is beautiful and It looks like a big fat goldfish.. Maybe it's Nemo all grown up.. Seriously, I hope you're feeling better...

Still no camera and my internet was on the blink again for 2 days...The cable guy showed me what was wrong again..a burned out connecter that was replaced last week !! he said it might have something to do with power surges or lightning...

Remember when using the dental floss it should be UNwaxed... I have even used 1/8" double faced satin ribbon...sometimes just using different weight threads will affect the discs...

Sometimes when I'm sewing straight stitches and it just doesn't look right and I'll do all the usual stuff to get it right and all I had to do was adjust the tension just a tad looser and then it sewed beautiful..go figure...

Oh gosh Mirabelle, that sounds just awful. I get like that (feel like fainting) if I cut myself badly too. I've done that ever since I was a child. My mom said if she heard just one wail and no more to go running, as I would faint. Hope it stopped bleeding and heals quickly.

Anael 05-24-2014 11:06 PM

Oh dear, Mirabelle! That's bad!!!!! I hope the bleeding stopped and you're feeling ok again very very soon!
Glenn looks very happy with his catch :) Poor Nemo :D :D

Ouch, Mirabelle, that would hurt...and make things hard to do for a week or two. Next time tell him to lay the fish down on a cleaning station and not to practice on your hand !

I hope it gets better quickly. Yes, the cats have me busy...almost done...

Love our cool weather, raining today. Every one has a good day!
