I still haven't gotten out to get some more batting. If I don't hurry up soon, I'm going to have a pile of stuff to be quilted, and that isn't my favorite part of quilting. I love piecing and picking out fabric.

Actually that would be good mind games. And if you find the piece that is wrong then on to a harder one with piece wrong. Like an I spy quilt. LOL

LOL Good idea! We should have a thread or Virtual Section pardon me Topics List where everyone can post a pic of something they did that isn't right and we all have to guess what is wrong with it! LOL

Hi Katie,

I just want to tell you how nice your blocks are, and how influential you are....

I sneak in here every now and again, and your beautiful blocks are always posted there. I got the templates from Rhonda but didn't start in here because I was already involved in another swap group. Now that one is over.

I actually joined Rhonda's new Block Swap which began on the 1st of March. I sure hope my blocks look as great as yours do! Thanks for sharing all the photos!

hugs, Jupiter

Thanks Marilyn, I really enjoy doing Rhonda's blocks. But have been out of comission since shortly after piecing this. Fell and hurt my right hand, and am so upset I can't do anything.

Hi everyone,
Here is a picture of the completed "Lilly" block quilt. It measures 60 x 84. The center is tacked at every other block intersection on every other row and the 6" border has a leaf design that is hand quilted.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking.

It's beautiful! I love the fabrics you used in it.

Thank you and thank you for creating this beautiful block.

Rhonda 03-16-2011 10:33 AM

You're welcome. I just wish I could do the FMQ you all are so good at. I will have to practice a bit and see what I can do. I did try a little one day but it wasn't anything too fantastic.

klgreene 03-16-2011 10:41 AM

Wonderful job Terri. I am so far behind in my quilting, and am just getting back to it. I wish I could FMQ. I am doing all SID and 1/4" from seam.

Rhonda, I did start working on putting my sampler together. But the way I'm quilting, it is taking a little longer than I thought it would. There are a lot of little pieces in that sampler, and I'm quilting around 90% of them. Also still can't quilt or sew for a long period of time yet, since my hand is still only about 75% better. I'm just having a hard time keeping away from it. Having withdrawals.

cjomomma 03-16-2011 12:34 PM

Terri Lily is my favorite block. Your quilt is beautiful.

tstransky 03-16-2011 12:40 PM

Thank you so much, Katie. I didn't FMQ the leaf design, it is hand quilted. It took me about 3 weeks to quilt the border.

tstransky 03-16-2011 12:46 PM

Thank you so much.

Love the hand quilting then. I am going to have to take more time to figure that part of quilting out. I used to sew everything by hand so I should be able do it. I just never could get that motion of putting several stitches on and rocking the needle. It is a skill my brain seems to find hard to do.

Katie, I love your blocks. I just found you this morning...and I see my friend Rhonda here as well. Way to go Gals!!! Beautiful, Beautiful and Rhonda, it took me a little while to locate the block that was turned wrong on the left! Not everyone would notice it...especially when it takes us a while to locate it!
Happy day to you all.

Great to connect on here Helen! I love the hummers! I know the wrong one was not that noticeable to others but it bugs me when one of my "pictures" is not right! LOL I am always so bummed with myself when I do something so stupid like that! LOL It's the perfectionist in me I guess! My work is the only place I am a perfectionist! If you saw my house you would know I am a total slob!

I started to do these blocks on a different thread, a block swap of Rhonda's block patterns. I made one swap, and decided that I'd rather make my own blocks. So, I know I am late starting with you all, but here are my 5 blocks so far. One was made by Mom-6 (my swap partner) and the other 4 are ones I made.

Thanks for allowing me to play along with you

hugs, Jupiter

Rhonda 04-03-2011 07:46 AM

Those are wonderful Marilyn! I have never been much for browns but I am enjoying the colors you chose. they are very striking!

cjomomma 04-03-2011 08:34 AM

Marilyn they are wonderful blocks. I love the brown.

klgreene 04-03-2011 09:26 AM

Beautiful blocks you did a fantastic job.

Jupiter 04-03-2011 01:52 PM

Thanks you all for your positive comments. I, too, am new to this brown color scheme. I've always liked brighter or blues. Somehow, right now, the caramel colors appeal to me. I am not sure how big a quilt I want to make... but hey, why limit my sights. King size would be really nice!

hugs, Jup

I think I am finally back. If I can just get rid of this cough I'd be fine. It's taken me a long time to get this to the point I'm getting it done. Here are the first six blocks. The picture is sideways. When I get the next six done I'll post them. I don't know if I'll need four in a row instead of three, but I'm just posting as I go.

Well here are the next 6 blocks. Didn't take quite as long as the first six. I'm so excited about getting this done. It will make a wonderful change on my daybed and change the whole room.

Have you tried my methods yet? Some of the piecing just happens when you make the Blocks as in Boston Blocks Wings Blocks etc.

You can do it too! If you use Rhonda's short cut methods then you will be amazed at what you can do. She has several tutorials on here, have a look at them. Rhonda has taught me so much and has given me the ability to look at a block, break it down mentally and then build it back up. There isn't too many patterns that are safe around me now. LOL!!

klgreene 05-06-2011 09:37 AM

Yes, without Rhonda this sampler wouldn't be here. I started her blocks back in Sept. And I don't think I've done anything that I didn't end up using Rhonda's way. So easy.

And Rhonda, I'm getting close. The last block has just been quilted, now to the the rest of the rows together. Which will be today, and then figure out the dust ruffle part. Learn as I go.....

Thank you ladies for all the support. I feel like I have done something right! LOL It makes me so happy to see your work Katie and CJ I love seeing them come to life so to speak!

I may design them but it is highly doubtful I would ever make them all. So I love seeing you guys do that part!
