Well this is the finished top. All quilted and sewn together. Now the borders will be the skirt and hopefully the finishing touch. Now I have to measure and pray I have enough fabric to do what I want to do to finish it. Wish me luck.

It's long, so hard to get a flat pic

flat picture but at an angle.

It's going to be a daybed cover. I have it on the couch to be able to see it. My bedroom isn't big enough to get the entire picture, but when it's done, I'll put it on the bed and you can see the finished product, teddy bears and all. :)

It really is a beautiful quilt Katie. I think at the end of June I can start on mine. These charity quilts are taking forever to get done. I will be happy when June 25th. gets here and I can be done with them.

I would not have been able to do all those quilts. I give you such credit, and I can't wait to see what your sampler will look like.

Thank you. It really has been a challenge for me. I have had a couple of quilters help me out and I really have appreciated what they have done.

Katie, that's awesome! Hope you have plenty of fabric for your borders. Can't wait to see it finished.

Katie, Your quilt is wonderful! I wish mine was a far along, lol. But today I completed my 6th block. There just isn't enough hours in the week.

So here is my version on Cassandra. Enjoy your weekend everyone! And thanks again, Rhonda, for providing such interesting lay-outs.

hugs, Jupiter

I see you are doing yours all on the same color scheme. It is really going to be pretty. When I started making these I didn't have any idea what I was going to make with them. Then after I made a few, I knew. I have three sides of the skirting on, and just the front to go. So I guess I better get off here and try to get it finished. I should be cleaning, but who wants to do that. :)

Jupiter 05-15-2011 09:45 AM

The browns are not usually "my" colors. But I picked up a brown/black/beige print that really spoke to me. Using those colors only, I have set out to make a "Caramel Quilt." Don't know how big it will be.... always hoping for king sized for our bed, but lap quilts are nice too! lol

hugs, Jup

Ok, are you ready.........there it is finished. And I just love it. I now want to take all my sewing stuff out of that room and make it a cozy quest room. Unfortunately, I can't do that because I have no other place to put my sewing stuff. Can you tell from this quilt and the mini's I love every color in the rainbow.

Finished!!!!!!!!! Without my stuff on it.

With my stuff, as I'll see it everyday

Rhonda 05-15-2011 02:23 PM

I absolutely love it!! I may have to hire you to do a cover for my couches!! LOL I use couch covers and they are nothing terrific. That would be a great way to cover them!

BTW I recognize that green bear's paw on the wall!

klgreene 05-15-2011 02:58 PM

That purple one is Nellie, your design. The blue one is from a tut CJ did and the rest are from tut's. I love tut's but don't want to make huge quilts. I have one, I've been working on since last summer. Still quilting it and putting it together. It was a great learning experience, and from different tut's. Any more large quilts, I will send out to be quilted. LOL

Katie all your little ones are fantastic. I was really fascinated by tesselations there for awhile but I haven't actually tried to do one. Yours are so pretty!

cjomomma 05-15-2011 03:18 PM

Oh My!! Katie is absolutely georgious!!

I never thought of making the mini's and hanging them. What a great idea.

Katie,
Your quilt is gorgeous. Great fabric selection and precise workmanship.

EC 05-15-2011 06:48 PM

Boy! When you say you'd better get off the QB and get something finished, you're not kidding around. I wish I could be so determined. You've done a wonderful job! Love the way you finished it.

Jupiter 05-16-2011 07:54 AM

Hi Katie,

Your quilt is georgous!!!!!!!! And its FINISHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hip-hip-hooray!!!!!!!!

Now at the risk of blasphemy of your lovely stuff.... I'd box all the bears and pillows and put them under the bed. That quilt is too perfect to cover up!

What a neat idea to make your tuts and minis into wall art. Nice to be able to look at the fun stuff you have made.

hugs, Jup

Blue Bell I just have to ask! What is in your avatar? It looks like an elephant hiding under your picnic table! LOL I am sure it is more mundane than my imagination.

Blue Bell 05-16-2011 07:27 PM

Exactly! We had a tree cut down and didn't not have it cut down to the ground. We are using it as a picnic table! My husband thought that the root of the tree resembled an elephant trunk. So he painted it gray, bought some eyes and voila, we have an elephant for the base of our table.
We also have a very large rock that resembles a whale, he added the tail and painted an eye, and also a large rock that resembles a frog after he painted it green and added eyes.
He is so clever!!!?

That is so creative of him! And it is cute! I thought it was just my imagination like looking at clouds.

I made my next block... Matilda. I looked at the 'road map' photo and went to work. It turned out nice, except (don't you just hate that word!) somehow it is 16" instead of 12". I think the aliens have stolen my brain, at least the mathmatical side of it!

So now I am thinking that the one 16" block should be made into a purse or table cloth or ??? any bright ideas out there?

I'll post a photo when I get into 'camera mode' again.

hugs, Jupiter

Tote bag wall hanging trivet Doll Quilt for swap table runner frame it in a picture frame for a differant look
sewing machine cover? not sure on size there. Throw for the back of an easy chair. I like to lay a small quilt or crocheted piece on the back of a comfortable chair. Or you could do more of them and make them for the seat or the back of dining table chairs -not sure if 16" is too big for a chair seat or not.

I used one small quilt I made and covered my nightstand with it. then I had my clock and other stuff on top of it.

Jupiter 05-19-2011 11:03 PM

Those are all great ideas... Thanks Rhonda.

hugs, Jupiter

ps... my daughter is named Rhonda. It feels funny to be acquainted with you.... I was talking to my hubby about these blocks and said something along the lines of "Rhonda designed these blocks," and well, you can see where his thinking was going.... Our daughter doesn't sew much now that she is working full time. Great name!

I have to ask! LOL I always ask this when I meet another Rhonda. What is her middle name? Mine is Rae.

My mom calls me Rhonda Rae alot of the time. A friend of ours liked the name and named their daughter after me but they named her Rhonda Kay. Her mom calls her Betsy. Go figure! I always wondered if she is going to call her Betsy why didn't she name her Betsy!! LOL

I know what you mean about the weird factor. I was told there are now 4 Rhondas on the board. One at least doesn't use the H. Not sure if there are more than 1. I was the only one for along time. It wasn't a common name when I was growing up. We had a Rondee at school but noone else had my name.

Jupiter 05-20-2011 08:18 AM

My daughter shares a middle name with both me and my mother. June. None of us are born in June, but the name goes on! lol Alas, Rhonda has ended tradition and given her daughter a different middle name. She is Emily Rowan. Now that is a different middle name, for sure!

I'd like to pretend that I just loved the name... Actually The Beach Boys' "Help Me Rhonda" song might have had something to do with it...

This photo is of the 2 Matilda blocks. The caramel colors block was the first one I made. Somehow I got my measurements wrong and ended up with a 16" (16.5) block. The blue block is my second try, and it is 12" (12.5).

I am working on a blue daisy theme quilt for my daughter for Christmas (shhh, don't tell my secret). I was making blocks on the Penny Herron Pieced Applique group here, but decided that her method at 12" wasn't working well. The blocks looked too clunky. She designed them to be 6" blocks, but I converted them to 12". Sometimes I should just leave well enough alone!

Sooo, I am now planning to make the remainder of the needed blocks in this method, or even some in the traditional block pattern way. I think her quilt will be nice... so you will be seeing some blue and some caramel blocks posted here. They are not going into the same quilt.

happy quilt!
hugs, Jup

Jupiter I love the blue block. The brown is really nice too but that blue one really pops.

Love them both Jupiter but I think the caramel is a stronger contrast hence a stronger look. I love the blue fabrics but the daisy fabric is a couple of shades lighter than I would use to get the contrast to pop out. Just a thought not a criticism in any way!!!

I am sure when the blues are all together it will be gorgeous!!

Rhonda 05-24-2011 12:18 PM

Jupiter you are going to have to do a quilt for my next book!! LOL

thanks!

OOooh I like all those. Beautiful.

Jupiter 05-24-2011 10:45 PM

That is funny that you say the daisy fabric should be darker. I was thinking it needed to be lighter! lol Oh well, it is what it is. When I put it with the my other blue and yellow blocks, it will just be a part of the field... a very nice, soft field!

Jupiter it is all in what you want to show off. I look at it and think the dark and the med is the design elements I want to see stand out but you can make whatever parts you like stand out or recede. for me with it being on the light side the daisies recede and it isn't something I see right off when I look at the block. but I am looking at one quilt block and when you put them all together then there is a differant look to the whole thing when they all mix and blend together. I think I understand the look you going for but I would need to see the whole thing to get the whole picture. I love this sort of thing because it makes me look at things differantly than I would normally.

Jupiter 07-14-2011 08:43 AM
