I'll move the three I've alread done to this thread so they can all be together. This is so great. I have one block turned wrong, so I have to change it, but won't bother changing the picture. We'll see how many people find it.

Such beautiful blocks!! Can't wait to see more. Can you see the backwards HST? |
hehehe second row left...correct. But if you wouldn't have said anything, I wouldn't have noticed. I made a test block that I was going to use for a small table topper for a lamp in my sewing room. A friend came over and wanted me to make her one. I had two blocks that were backwards. She couldn't find it, so she took that one. I made another one, with no mistakes for myself. It's really easy to do a small block backwards. I just finish cutting out week 11 Bella. I thought I had it all done until I went to lay it out. I keep forgetting that the blocks have to reverse. ie: top row blocks 3 and 4, so had to make 4 more sets of block 4. But I am saving ALL my mistakes like that and see what I can come up with some day. Maybe nothing, maybe something super special. Going to cut out another block. I like to have 2 or 3 to sew together at one time.

Love these blocks, do we need to buy the download book in order to do them? Am anxious to see more of them, beautiful!

I really would like to see everyone elses blocks too! I have my sister interested in these blocks too, she's not on the board yet, but I'm nudging her with the pictures of mine and sent her the web pages. She's the one that got me into quilting 30 years ago, and now it's my turn to get her addicted to these blocks. |

Here are the two I put together today. The wk 3, Cassandra block was my first Kansas Dugout Block.

They look terrific KL!! What did you think of the processes? My mom didn't like the look of where the Kansas Dugouts stop and start between the blocks(Where the points meet). Her eye was looking for a solid line there. But that defeats the purpose of using KDs.

Your blocks are beautiful, even the one with the block turned wrong. Waiting for the rest!
|
I think it is too obvious not to do something about it - unless you are going with the idea of one imperfect block in a quilt to satisfy the religious idea...
I like your choice of colour. |

I had already fixed it shortly after I realized it was wrong. That would have driven me nuts. So here's the fixed block

Still very beautiful! Thanks for the update picture.

Ok, here are a couple more. I must slow down a little because I'm not getting my points as perfect as I'd like. The first one is my first Star Point Block Wk 10 Lavena. That was a bit challenging at first, but I got the swing of it. So I want to make more with better points. The second is from Wk 11 Bella. And the third is actually like the bottom left block on my avatar. I made that about 11 years ago with Thangles. I've always like that block so decided to make one the Rhonda way. It took half the time to make. Hope you enjoy.
Also, I have not squared up any block. I like to wait until I actually put the sashing on. Wk 10 Lavena Wk 11 Bella Thangles Rohonda's Way |
They all look terrific! I think you did a good job on the points. We are always our own worst critic. But I know what you mean. I strive to do the best I can but sometimes they just don't want to play nice no matter how hard I try.
I love that you took my method and applied it to another quilt block. That is what I try to get across is my methods can be used for alot of traditional quilt blocks. |
Y'all's blocks are so pretty. Keep up the good work. I am drooling!
|
Thanks Rhonda. I am really having fun with these. Now I'll have to get a few more cut out before I get a few more pictures up. I am also working on a block from the Fons and Porter show. I wanted to try it because they made it look so easy. NOT...then I'll see if I can do it your method. That will take me a while because I don't want to spend all my time trying to get a block together. When I know I can get several done in the same amount of time. And will probably look better.
Thanks Bj, we are kind of neighbors. Just a two hour drive! Are their nice quilting stores in Lubbock? I don't get there very often. |
Wow wow wow!!! Your blocks are georgious. Fabulous colors.

Opps I just saw the last two posts. Yeah it looks great. If you are going to make a sampler, it will blend in. I have one block I made before I started these, and I like the block, very simple one, but when I put it with the first couple of these, I didn't like it. Now that I have a bunch done. It blends right in. |

Here are a couple more. Now I'm starting to think about what color sashing since all these are the colors the rest of them will be. I wonder if it should be a light sashing lt. green or beige, or dark sashing, like dk. green or black. It will still be a whilte before I get around to putting the sashing on, but when I'm ready to start, quilting as I go, I'd like to have the material ready.

I'm curious. Are you doing these in 6 1/2" or 12 1/2"? How many do you think you will use? |

Those of my favorite colors. I had already made a lap quilt with these and a few more shades of those colors, and those were left in my stash. But I keep adding more of those colors. Maynot the exact fabric, but the colors. I'm curious. Are you doing these in 6 1/2" or 12 1/2"? How many do you think you will use? |
