*ducks and runs for cover* .... actually disappears for the next week!
About the fabrics ... how about batiks in Christmas colours? and with just a a dash of metallic silver and gold ...... 4" squares would be stunning, I'm sure!
And you might even find some Christmas print batiks!

I made a practice 4in square of the first block. I didn't really enjoy working with all the small pieces. The block turned out fine but Im thinking I will try working with the larger pieced blocks instead of my plan to make the 4 inch. I'm thinking it might actually be easier for me to work with the larger blocks. But those little blocks look so darn cute.. LOL

What a great byline I like it.

Jenniky, I paper pieced all the Farmers Wife Quilt blocks a year or so ago and they were 6" blocks. Some of them were very difficult at that, and I've been hemming and hawing trying to decide what size to work on...I agree that the smaller ones are so cute, but they also take a LOT more time...decisions, decisions...what size is everyone doing????? How may are going to give the insane 4" blocks a try?????

How's this for deciding on my colors: I'm going to make one in batik and one in Christmas fabric. At least the first few blocks, then if I don't want to do both, I'll make a table runner. (Can you tell I'm a Libra????)
Anael, if I let DH pick the color for the kitchen it'll be beige like the rest of my house. Of course I have so many quilts and artwork hanging you'd never know the color.
JenniKy and Anne-I also love the little 4" blocks and made a few for another project. They are fun--very time consuming but I enjoyed them (all 2 that I made LOL). I found that you lose the details of the fabric so you have to chose the fabric carefully. Example: my fabric had tiny pinecones on it but by the time I used it, it read as solid brown.
QE: NO YELLOW!!!

Fabrics
I worked yesterday and bought some of my fabrics...the rest I will get on a shop hop in a couple of weeks. I am making the 10" blocks with the thought that I might make a few 4" with scraps if I am feeling ambitious.
I am going to alter the pattern and not put the solid blocks between the pp's ones. Instead I will use 2 different sashing fabrics...something like this: http://images.search.yahoo.com/image...mb=tFut7gpTFIQ
I am still going to put the blocks on point though. I plan to use the red here and I am going to look for an orange/rust...I was going to use the one I have in the above picture, but when looking at the whole fabric, there is more red and green than I want in the sashing. I want to go lighter for more contrast.
The large flower will be my outer border. The dark green will be the setting triangles. I will be looking for something that is primarily the blue/green color for another "print" and whatever else I find that might go with it.
I will be cutting and maybe even sewing my first block tomorrow! I figure since I am so far behind with my PC blocks that maybe I can keep up with these. Of course I will keep working on PC too, don't worry it is not going in a UFO box!!
