Row Robin Quilt Along! Starts March 2nd!

Karamarie, Beautiful! You really captured the nature of Lake Superior. And of course there had to be a lighthouse. Is this any one in particular? I hope you will describe the process and different parts of your row. Did you find fabric with those cabins on it?

white pine- sorry I did't elaborate much on my posting of my Row 2 but I had tried several times before and posting the picture never worked so didn't write much this last time. I was trying to depict a lake and decided on Lake Superior. It is a picture of the Lighthouse as it was a piece of fabric with all different lighthouses on and this one said Lake Superior. If you do a close up on your screen there is a little label with the name on it. And yes the cabins and trees, etc are from yardage also where I did some fussy cutting. I always think of a cabin up north and my parents did own a resort so that was always a place to go for a restful break. The sky is the back of a blue fabric I had and the water is a batik. The rocks and area the lighthouse are sitting on are just cut from pieces of fabric. I may still add a couple of fish or ducks if I can make them small enough. I'm hoping it will come alive when I do my FMQ to emphasize waves, etc. I've always wanted to do a landscape quilt and I guess this is my first attempt. Now onto row 3 - which is supposed to be what? Thanks

karamarie wowsa! that is going to be stunning. the next piece of your picture is up to you! is it land ? is it forest again? whatever you want it to be it shall be! if you do what M-fay has suggested you will see a basic plan for your rows. top middle bottom or top, middle, middle bottom, bottom. then you can do a row or two of traditional blocks if you like around the top and sides. you know, cabins, deer, beach things... your call. its so cool about this is that is your quilt NO QUILT POLICE (they are on vacation at this time) and no one can say that is right or wrong. very simple. I am still dreading my dear friends making those chairs. I hope I don't flop on it but I know I will get the concept out at least. all that applique is making me sweat! lol. I will do it just maybe even get better during the process of it. I did a schnauzer dog last year for a friend and sweat the entire time. It came out adorable and I swore I would never do applique again. well one year later here I am lol.
here are my two impressionistic lol rows of sky and bay. I am doing a bay and sand next I think as the ocean needs to be larger in my minds eye.. just tow or three more rows and then sand. what do you think? its going to look ok when its done I think but now I know what I am doing would do it all strips and less sun.

guess not darn it! lol next time perhaps! you get the idea though. I want the ocean to be more forefront therefore believe (I may be wrong help me here) having it larger than the sky will bring it upfront more.. then the same with the sand. so I can get those beach chairs on it!

Elisabrat - I love love your first two rows and when you add the sand with whatever you put on your beach will bring it all together. I do have one idea or maybe two for my third row - am not quite sure yet. This is a fun project. We need to think outside our comfort zone on this one - and that's good. Have a great weekend!
