My daughter is a hairdresser so I don't have to pay for haircuts or color. I'm really fortunate in that respect. About three years ago she talked me into coloring my hair for the first time, at 73, can you believe it.

I have very short hair (a boy at school just today asked if I was a boy). My cuts are $40 but worth it!

I just started at smart style, and I know from experiancethat when the salon charges you x amount of money it is not the styleist that gets the money we only get 32%,that is at the chain stores its worse at a salon.Unless you have been there a while.Plus usually there are no benefits.

Used to spend $25 for a haircut! Now it is Great Clips for me. I wear it short and if they cut it too short (as they sometimes do not know the meaning of the word "trim"), I know that the hair will grow back....each and every one of them!!! And I have decided that if I am gray....then i am gray!

I work really hard taking care of everyone else in my life. When I went into business for myself (I own a bookkeeping service) I decided that the one thing that I would splurge on is a good haircut. I go to a high end salon to get my hair done and pay a ridiculous price for it. I just feel better if my hair looks nice, I am more productive and it makes me feel more professional. I'll scrimp and save on something else.

I have had the same hair stylist for 20 yrs she does it out of her home, i usually go every 5 weeks for a color, she charges 35.00 and that includes the cut and style and i tip 10.00.
Love her and she know how i like my hair, can't put a price on that.

I have thin hair and it's $30. plus tip same amt of time as you others. Thank God I have a blondish/lt brown hair which so far I don't have to color most people can't see the gray but I can when I go to dry it. I think rents are so high in these places that they have to pay most of it out on expenses. I hope I can continue that way. I may have to start looking for a cheaper place my hubby says where he goes it's only 10.00 and they have a girl cuts hair to. Sue
