you can buy a separate slide scanner but a lot of flatbed scanners have a TMA (transparent material adapter) built in.

Mine is Arcsoft Photoimpression 6. It scans negatives and slides. Not hard to use after you try a bit. Easier and faster with negatives- you can do up to six at a time. Slides are only three at a time. I really like the editing feature. Makes old pictures look new.

Alas, mine is not, did try the do-it-yourself thing with black tag board and a light above the scanner..not very satisfactory.... So I am going back and forth between just getting a slide scanner or getting a new scanner/printer....I'd rather be buying quilt material! LOL
I have priced getting them done but that is spendy!

I googled Arcsoft Photoimpression 6 and this is just a software for editing the pictures once they are scanned in right?

Sorry about the info. It is a VUpoint 21C Film and slide converter. Google WM-FC-VP and it will come up. As all things go I see that the price has really dropped since we got ours.

the photoimpression 6 is what came with my Ion 35mm slide and flim scanner.
