Seems the quake was stronger heading North than it was West or South.

We felt it here too. Couldn't figure out what was happening at first! Of course we're getting ready for Irene this weekend so can't spend too much time on earthquakes :)

The girl next to me felt it here in PA but she was sitting and I was walking toward her. I didnt feel a thing. She knew right away and then shortly after the news came on and confirmed it. A water main broke in philly and a building came down in camden plus some windows in some of the buildings broke. Lots of buildings evacuated. People standing out on the streets.

Felt it here in Maryland. I was at work and felt the rumble under my feet like a big heavy truck had driven by. But when the cubicles started moving, I knew what it was. Funny....the men bolted out of the building and the women stood around and talked.

I too felt the earthquake! I was sitting in our basement rec room when I felt a movement and then heard a sound and then more movement. My husband came down and said did I feel the house moving and of course I had. We took off outside! Pictures fell off the walls and shelves, other than that I think we are fine! It sure did send a scare through me. I hope to never feel another anytime soon!

If that fish tank would have topled it would have been a "wet" VA.

    Glad to hear you're safe.

We have our taller bookcases and the china hutch and of course the water heater all strapped to the wall. I have a 100 gallon fish tank that is not. I think it would be sturdy enough but if it went over, there goes the living room and dining room carpet!!!!!

Shew, we felt it here too and your tale explains why my fish were FREAKED OUT when I got home! I figured they were shaken but not too badly, but they were very upset when I got here.

    I'm glad you're all okay!

I'm so glad and thankful that everyone is alright!

It was felt here in NC too, at my daughter's school the boards shook. I didn't feel a thing, guess I was huffing and puffing about the printer so I wouldn't of notice.

My mom was sitting at work and she felt it there too in NY.

Our friends who live in VA felt it bad. They said it started at the fault line in Mineral, VA which is about 10 miles from where they are. The house shook and cabinets opened, dishes fell out, etc... She is so shook up she can barely speak. Been trying to call her back but the phone lines are busy.

Here on the mountain top in WV, DH and I didn't feel a thing. I told him we were likely both on our feet and figured it was just that usual wobbly feeling. Folks on all points around our area felt the tremor, but not us. Multistory buildings in Wheeling, WV felt sway on the top floors.

Signing out from Wild, Wonderful, Wet Virginia.

We had it here on Long Island. My dogs did not react, how odd.
