As of Jan 2nd the price of flat rate shipping went up. I went to send a small box to my DD and it has gone from 4.95 tp 5.20 They get us coming and going, don't they?
The Clerk said it was because the two cent postage increase was denied that they had to make it up somewhere.

I guess, on the bright side, it was still cheaper than UPS or Fedex whose rates start at about $9.00 for home delivery.

    It is frustrating, though.

I saw that to about postal rates are going up. They are claiming that the internet is the cause of the postal rates going up. People are not sending much for letters anymore.

You gotta blame someone/something :( I use bill pay at the bank-it is SO easy and fast. I only need stamps for birthday and get well cards. AND for swaps here! Ebay should be providing extra revenue and other like sites. Oh, well......

Other prices are going up like food, medications clothing etc etc. I am sure glad we have a Walmart were the prices make it affordable. Personally we have had to cut back on many things we always buy. I haven't had a garden for a long time and this year I will be making a big garden and doing lots of canning. Maybe its time we go straight back to the farmer. I firmly believe we need to keep our fabric stashes huge till this economy finely levels out.

Yep, everything seems to be going up. But I haven't seen an increase on my paycheck for a couple years. And there was no Holiday gift certificate either.

I know sugar went up! I bought a bag a couple of days ago, generic mind you, and $3.79 for 5 pounds! WHAT?! I don't get it, I really don't! They say the price increase is because of the people being obese. They even called it a "fat tax" on all sugar containing items!

There have been several posts about Priority Flat rates going up. However, I just went onto USPS website & the rate is still $4.95 at the post office & $4.75 if printing label on line.

I did print several Priority labels on Jan 2nd & was only charged the $4.75

UPS went up 4.5% this month, FedEx soon to go up also. I'm so used to it that I've come to expect it. If a price goes down, I notice!!

And you have to watch out for the size decrease along with the price decrease. For instance: a POUND can of coffee holds 12 to 13 oz,. I have seen some four pound bags of sugar and Half gallons of ice cream holding several ounces less. Beware of NEW Packaging cause it often hides something.

I have been noticing that there is a lot more water in the cans of veggies. The fruit in the can there are 3 peaches and about 3 to 4 small slices of peaches and lots of peach juice. I have seen other things to that are not filled like they use to do.

Just about everything around here has gone up, water, electric, heating gas, gasoline, medicare, insurance premiums, food, pet food, etc.,etc. Not social security income becuse the government says there is no inflation.
Our Wal Marts want to sell by bulk, toilet paper, paper towels, huge bags of pet food, not practical for 2 old people and small pets.
