It kills bugs by causing microscopic cuts. I just don't know if I would be letting my cat breathe or eat this stuff. I would have to do more research. You are in danger of getting giardia if your cat has it. Please make sanitation the highest priority.

I worked at a humane society for 12 years. Ghiardia is very contagious and you can easily track it from the soles of your shoes to your other pets.

I know every Vet does things differently but when our mini Schnauzer had Ghiardia, not only was she on meds, but after she pottied we had to clean it up and dispose of it. Then had to spray the area with a bleach/water solution. We bought her from a puppy mill just to get the cute little thing out of there and geez she was sick for 2-3 months before this was all cleared up. Seems like we also had to wash her little feet atfer she went out each time. It has been 14 yrs ago so I cannot really remember.

Yes! I mix it in with bulk food storage to keep bugs out.

we use diatomaceous earth in our pool filtration system at our town. Don't know about yours.... but ours in dry form is a carcinogen!

This is a different product and is deadly. I have used Food Grade on dry dog food and in wet cat food. My cats are too fussy to stay on it long. One of my dogs misses it in the dry food so much that when I spread it around on the floor of the back porch to help with fleas, He licks the porch clean. I have used it on ants and bugs. I have even used it on myself. I stirred it into hot cocoa at night. A little gritty is all. There is no taste. It is a lot cheaper if several friends buy a 50 lb bag from a feed store. I get mine in Lexington Ky from a place that keeps it for race horses.

Yes, there is a difference between the food grade DE and the one you use in your pool.

I have done some real good research and it is for people too and doesn't harm animals or people at all. It has also been advertised as a toxic cleanse for people (all natural that is).

D. Earth is like minute shards of glass. I use it in the garden to keep slugs off my tomatoes. It must be replaced after a rain. How are you going to use it???
