I am set to write up a gated community evactuation plan for our owner owned camp site. Its gated, no one lives here full time.. but they come in and out often. We need a simple plan in place and I am searching the web for the things I can find. I was hoping if anyone lives in a community such as or knows of where to come up with a template to work with I would so love to get a copy or simply some ideas. We were told we need to write a simple one or two page plan. 500 sites, maybe 5 percent occupancy during off season, 80 percent (or 2000 people here) during Memorial to Labor day. AHH!!

ALSO: a Short easy plan for lost children. This happens they get wandering about away from a site and cant find the right street and everything looks the same. Any ideas??

Your local fire dept may be able to help you with the evacuation plan, or one of the other city/county agencies.
I think your plan would be individualized as to how many entrances there are, streets, etc... Up where you are, it would mainly be due to a fire wouldn't it? That is why I was thinking the fire dept may be of help.
As to the lost children...maybe letting the campers know to call you when they are found as well as if any are lost...

Interesting. Where is this park located? Is it a membership. How much is the membership? Do you own the lots?
We have had 2 Lots for 6 years. We buy the lots then pay a membership. We never own the lots. We don't pay any tax's.
It is paid in our membership dues. Pleas PM me ConnieF

I guess open the gate would be number one. Sorry couldn't resist. Do you have a loud speaker system around the camp ground? They aren't very expensive. At the last campground we were at the office offered GPS tracking for all young kids to wear. The parents were given the monitor and the kids wore the GPS, I think it was a bracelet or necklace.

why not set up each street with a "child friendly" picture next to street sign, that way, even the littlest could tell someone " I live on "firetruck street" or "Beachball street" If you keep it simple, they will remember easier....and then keep a master plan of the simple ones at the front gate so they will know where their "new" street is.

I don't know about campgrounds but when it comes to evacuating our building, here at work, we need to account for everyone. Is there a way to know who is currently at the campground? do they have to sgn-in? Or, does the gate record who's passed thru? If yes, you might consider keeping a master list of current occupants nearby, say a clip board near an exit. Identify one or two phone numbers (and/or web site) where people can call to report that they have evacuated.

Emergency responders should also have this number so they can determine if someone might be trapped at the campground. It's not fool proof but it's a start.
