basket making

anyone into making baskets? I did a couple and I am doing one today! I almost forgot bout the class. I will post it when I m finished with it and back home. i think it is a flag... cann't remember what i signed up for!

I've made several baaskets. I enjoyed the process, but I haven't done any in 10 years or so. Like quilting it could get expensive.

Yes-I do pine needle baskets, and in the past, I've also done reed basketry.

Me too, and some of the trees in Yosemite have the longest needles I've ever seen.
I also have been pruning a massive overgrowth of Virginia Creeper from my fences, stripping off the leaves and smaller vines and curling them up like ropes, then hanging them on the fence poles to dry. When and if I ever get around to making more baskets, I'll simply soak them in warm water with a touch of bleach, rinse well and start from there.
To be honest about this, usually I simply throw them away after a year or two, or three, when new growth is overgrowing the fences and start again with new cuttings.
