In quilting we almost always press the seams to one side (usually the dark side), but in clothing construction, you always press seams open. I sewed clothes before getting started in quilting and that's where I picked up that pressing open at least one side makes such a difference after you turn it right side out.
Happy quilting!

Thank you for sharing. I printed your tutorial out and since I am also a machine embroiderer I have some great ideas for embroidering in the corners before sewing the pieces together. What do you all think....shall I embroider on the inside or on the outside? The inside will show when it's opened to access the bread and the outside will show when it's all closed up.

Hmm, if you put the embroidery on the outside, everyone will see it when it's folded up on the table. If you put it on the inside, hmm, maybe only the ones who pick up on detail will see it. OK, my decision is to put it on the outside. Does that help?
