My DH leaves my things alone. When he does laundry he will fold my cloths, etc. but I have to put them away. When I do laundry I do the same. He has always left my craft stuff alone and I leave his stuff alone. (Except when we have moved.) We've been married for 40 years so it works for us. I think it is our way of giving each other our own private space.

Am glad my hubby stays out of my sewing/craft/play room. He would just back up the pickup to the front door and load it up and out. I took everything out a few months ago, vacuumed, rearranged shelves and etc. and when I was putting stuff back, it seemed I had more than I started with and wondered where to put it. I know I have too much stuff, but live in a rural area, don't drive and need to have it when I need it. Hope you enjoy your newly painted (and reorganized ?)room very soon. lol

I feel for you. my DH painted the bedrooms and scraped the stuff off the ceiling. killed the vaccum cleaner doing this. we didnt have a shop vac, do now. but not a regular vac. he thinks he can use the shop vac to vac the house. LOL. works ok on the hardwood, but carpet in the bedrooms need a reg vac. he found yarn stashed, fabric stashed. needless to say I am on restiriction for awhile. And he didnt do my sewing room!!! LOL

Oh..I so know how you feel..made me laugh today..thank you for that..I went on a week long quilt retreat(Prescott, Az) when I got back..my hubby said he had a surprise for me..he'd washed and painted sewing room..and added the table I needed..as I stood there in shock..he said I didn't loose anything..he'd had picked everything up as was and stacked it in closet..I thanked him of course..I spent the next 2 weeks..putting it back..looking for things..thanking him for all the hard work he had done..lol..wanting to shoot him..but he's alive and well..he meant well and it looked good.. Just get better and let us know how it goes !!

Tell him most of fabrics were gifts from ex-quilters and others wanting to reduce their stash.

time for a new system!
I had this happen a few years ago when we tiled the room-it was truly painful, but in the end I re-discovered things that I had forgotten that I had (some things I bought twice...bad(!))

It would be scary for me if my DH decided to empty out my sewing room (so many secrets). But mine DID take the popcorn off the ceilings in our house and, believe me, you WANT him to move your stuff out! There is no neat way to get popcorn down! Be thankful you're not going to go back to a sewing room with a fine white powder stuck to everything!
