In all seriuosness, I have known of several women who lost everything when they could not pay storage fees after getting out of bad marriages. One was in an abusive relationship and he stripped her of every dime through people he knew even after she left. Another vendictive husband payed off his soon to be exwifes storage fees and walked away with her lifes work of writing and painting she toiled years to create leaving her with a note that she was worthless. While I feel for the storage places I also feel for those who may have been in a situation they could not rectify and now have lost even family heirlooms or in this case- Grandma herself.

That is so shocking to hear, my dad still sits in his spot on the mantel. Even if we were to hit hard times and had to put stuff in storage I'd still take him with me even if I was on the street. Isn't there laws against dumping someone's ashes? I know you just can't take them and let their ashes go into the wind. It's just a very sad situation all the way around.
