Cart charges
#71
One of our grocery stores has this. It is actually a great idea. You pay a quarter to get the cart and then when you are finished you place the cart in the cart holder and you get your quarter back. No more shopping carts being left in the parking lot. It saves money too.

I think it's a great idea! I'm sick and tired of seeing carts in our alley in Tucson. I always take my cart back when i go to JoAnn's, so the quater wouldn't be an issue - as long as I have one! I hope they give change at the cashiers' when they first start this.

I wish all stores would do this. It costs retailers thousands of dollars every year to replace damaged and stolen carts (which they pass on to customers because it becomes part of their overhead). Have done it at Aldi for years and never given it a thought.

You get your quarter back when you return the cart.

I can't believe customers have not complained about that one. Upper management needs a swift kick in the rear end!!!

I haven't seen that at JoAnn's yet but one of our discount grocery stores does it. Aldi. They have the BEST prices on a lot of items and they keep prices down by not supplying free bags and not paying someone to track down carts in the parking lot. If you want your quarter back you turn your cart in.
