Did you know if you spray a clean fan blade with hair spray (the cheap kind) that the spray repels dust from settling on the blade? I seldom have to dust my fan blades and the only one I have is on the back porch. It works for all fan blades. I learned this when I was a teen and worked as housekeeper during the summers at a old mansion type museum.

Wow! Excellent tips. I had 5 ceiling fans in my North Carolina house. I could have relly benefited from knowing this then.

That's a good idea. I have always used Swiffers.

I heard another method just recently that I want to try soon.
Using long kitchen tongs, wrap both blades in a microfiber cleaning towel using a rubber band or two to hold the towel in place. Pinching the tongs, slide the tong blades along the top and bottom of the fan blades.

(These towels are supposed to catch and hold dust better than other fibers and can be bought in multiple towel packs fairly cheaply; also reusable.)

I don't understand how dust can settle in on fan blades that run 24/7, 365 days. But it do! Lol. Thanks for the tips. Mine don't get wiped down as often as needed since I have to either climb on beds to get those in the bedrooms or drag a ladder in the house to get the one in the living room. No wonder they don't get the attention they need.

I am going to buy some cheap hair spray, as I have 5 fans running most of the time. Thank you for the tip.

I believe that dust is a protective coating. My house is very well protected!
