I'm not much of a 'duster' due to allergies. I wash things off and then rinse out the cloth. I climb my ladder a few times each year and wash everything I can on the ceiling fans and I have 8 of them in our house. I think your idea would work well with people who dust though.

Another way to handle dust....buy some cheap get well cards and sign them with different names and pens. Keep them handy in case someone drops by. You can show your guest the get well cards and explain that you just don't feel well enough to dust today!

I will definitely try the hairspray trick. Even the chains catch and hold the dust!

If you leave them long enough they appear to be molting! I have a little right angle duster on an extension rod that my DSIL gave me; it works wonders. But the pillowcase idea sounds great, too.

LOL, love that! I just assumed they were supposed to be fuzzy.

I've been using the long handled Swiffer for quite awhile. Works fine for me. I clean the fan before I vacuum the rug to pick up any stray "particles", no not chunks If I had to get out a ladder to clean my fans, I'm guessing they would never be cleaned!

I use a Swiffer duster everyweek. I have 5. I'd rather keep up with it on a weekly basis. When I change my sheets, I use the duster before removing them from the bed. Give them a shake outside then toss intot he washer.
