MIL had a beautiful black gas stove top...until you used it, lol! It was the most painful appliance to clean known to man. Frankly, I feel the same way about stainless steel. I have off-white appliances and love them. I really need to replace our dishwasher and one of the reasons I'm holding off is not being able to find an off-white one in a brand other than what I have.

I bought the stainless steel, with a black top...gas stove! I hate it!!!
Never, ever again!!! I hate it!
I literally use white vinegar to clean it and buff like crazy to get rid of the food, spills and streaks.
Did I mention how I hate the black top? It's a crazy thing to have to clean.

My husband had all black appliances when I married him. Let me just say that I hate them with a passion...especially the electric stove. It doesn't matter what I use on it or how many times I wipe with a dry towel it streaks and looks dirty. I'm saving up for white appliances!

Ours is black, and after we wipe it down, and rinse, we take a dish towel and go over it again.

Yes. I use a razor blade scraper first, wipe with damp cloth then use Weiman stove top cleaner and wipe with microfiber cloth. My electric stove top is 13 years old and almost looks like it did the day it was installed. It is almond and a Jenn Air.

We have a stainless and black gas stove. The cooktop is black and it never looks clean even though we clean it a lot. Sorry, no really good advice. I do love the stove though, aside from this little thing.

After cleaning my black gas range, I use denatured alcohol on it. Accidentally found it by cleaning my granite and getting some on my range. The finish is nice to look at but way too high maintenance. If I don't cook for a few days it shows dust! DUST! A black, high shine, gas range is a high maintenance mistake I will not make again.

I have a black enamel stove top and I use Pledge Multisurface cleaner. Blue and red can with 3X on the side. I use several bounty paper towels to clean it and there is no streaking. The woman at Lowe's told me about this and said it works on stainless appliances as well.

My sister has a black stove and she uses 2 products but can't remember what the 1st one is but she finishes with Windex last. Says she doesn't have streaks or fingers prints.
