    Coloring Apron Fabric Choices

I found a Coloring Apron in the Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Nov/Dec 2007 issue that I want to make for my five-year-old granddaughter.

I found these fabrics at home and can't decide which one to use.

Which one do you like better?... the bottom left (green)... or the bottom right (pink)

These are the fabrics that I am going to use to make one for my seven-year-old grandson.

I like the green. But it took me a while to decide. Either would be cute.

I like the pink for your Grandaughter. Cute crayon apron and nice fabrics for your Grandson! I might change the pattern to more of a bib men's apron for a boy or just a straight rectangle like a nail belt.

I like that straight rectangle idea. Even though this is a very simple pattern, I am starting to hyperventilate over the directions. I have the hardest time following a pattern. I do not have a background in sewing, and the terminology is foreign to me. That's why I make up my own quilt designs.

Pink, I would vote for pink.

at first I thought pink, then decided it was fighting so go for the green one.

The green fits the character of the fruit better, I think.

For a child, I really like the the green. The pink seems too mature to me. I also think the green coordinates better with the feature fabric.

I like the fruit and bamboo together. Fruit for the top, bamboo for the crayon pockets. I like cheerful colors for kids.

I think the pink, it picks up more of the color in the main fabric. The green has so little in it that it doesn't seem to go with it. It might if there were a third color. I do like you blue color choices for the other apron.

I never could decide which colors to use for my granddaughter's apron so I caved and bought some Frozen fabric that I know she would like. I couldn't slight my grandson so I got him some Spiderman fabric.

I made one out of cowboy fabric as a trial. I didn't want to cut the bought fabrics until I knew the size was right. I made some adjustments and then used the bought fabrics. I never could understand the directions on how to put on the waistband so I made up a way. I just hope that the waistband isn't too long.

Tartan... I incorporated your rectangle pocket idea verses the tiered version in the original pattern.

Thank you for all of your replies!
