I see ads in the paper and bulletin boards of businesses that have flyers and such for low cost spay and neuter, I would definitely check for those. If you're "low income" your local Humane Society also does low cost spay and neuter. I just got a certificate for spaying a starving stray cat that showed up the other day, for $10, normally $25, but she said since I do so many other things for the Humane Society, she said she would let me have it for $10.

That's really high. I would try another vets. Way higher than costs in our neck of the woods.

That is crazy. My vet neuters for about $100 which includes shots. Check around with different vets.

I have never heard of a law like that. It would be dangerous if the cat went outside, no way to protect itself. I mainly have indoor cats, but still will not declaw....

There's lots of spay/neut. clinics everywhere around me here in Tennessee. Check with your local humane society or aspca and they should know of somewhere close to you to get that done cheaply! The vets. are like docs.---they have gone crazy when it comes to $'s!

$242 for a neuter and $75 for an exam is steep. My vet charges $37 for an exam and $85 to neuter a male cat.

Around here if you get a cat or dog from a shelter there is a fee to adopt which also includes neutering if not already done, when you get animal fixed they reimburse your cost, but they already have the pets immunized. It is a win, win.

This guy just showed up from who knows where? So no humane society was involved - except the suckers that live in our house!

Know all vet visits are expensive, however, their training is about as expensive as medical school. check the animals shelter.
