Ok guys, thanks!! In between the v legs. I can see that and do it. I made the chain a little longer (for some reason it looks "right" only after about three chains) to confirm what I am seeing. I'm about to practice.
Painiacs, if you ever want to try knitting, PM me. I'll throw crochet hooks at you and you can throw needles at me! Lol.
Thanks so much!!

Well, I think I made the 12 hdc...:) when it says mark the last stitch, do I just slide a loop of yarn on the hook like I would with knitting?? Also, where I made the stitches, there is a large open space. Can I tighten it up?
Going to break for lunch while I feel a small sense of accomplishment!

Nope. Not good. Did something wrong. Part of my ring of stitches looks a lot thicker than the first part. Hmmm. Like I must have gone into one of the hdcs at some point. Yuck... yep, time for a break.

Sounds like you have a lot of people helping you on this. I wish I knew how to help you. I read all these and it is like reading a foreign language. That is my next thing to learn---how to crochet. Can anyone tell me what is the easiest way to learn?
