I think the slip stitch part is the part she missed. There should be some instructions before round one unless it got downloaded from the internet and somehow got omitted. I just reread her instructions and nothing about the slip stitch

Here are some photos. They are in order of what your pattern says. Sorry that the first few are blurry. I tried to un-blurry them, but the second time wasn't any better than the first. :(

I hope these help and don't confuse you more. It's kinda' hard to show with still pictures.

Yarn over (YO) to make starter loop

YO the back and needle insertion, pull up tight to needle

    YO to start 1st stitch

    2 chains

YO and needle through the '2nd stitch from hook'

12 HDC in 2nd chain from needle with rubberband as marker where you will probably have to do a slip stitch to join this round.

Rubber band as stitch marker. See the 'tail' that is sticking up above the needle? try and tuck that under your stitching. This will keep your center hole smaller.

And it will have a big hole looking area where you put all 12 stitches in - but it will be less noticeable as you do the next row

Sharonb!! Thank you so much! I really appreciate your taking the time to make the photos. My first circle did not really look like that. I'm going to try again later. About to have to head to a friend's for dinner.

These are the first few lines of the instructions, carhop and quiltstodo:

Round 1: Ch 2. Work 12 hdc into 2nd ch from hook. Mark last stitch with stich marker.(12)

Round 2: *1 hdc in 1st st, 2 hdc in next* around to marked st. (18)

Round 3. *1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st* around to marked st. (24)

I'm still working on round one!! I pulled out my stitches. I did not look like Sharon's. I'm sure I will need help starting round 2!

CoyoteQuilts, those were very good photos you put in. I am enjoying this post. It makes me want to get my needles and yarn back out.
