Oh, and did I mention I really HATE meatloaf!! It disgusts me. Hopefully somebody else around here will eat it

Now, I'm free to go sew. I'm sew excited!! :D
Put lots of A1 sauce on it! That makes anything, (except tripe) taste good!

my meat loaf recipe has oatmeal, condensed milk, onions, salt and pepper in it. and it is delicious. the son in laws just love it. no tomatoes in it, except ketchup on top, before i bake it. got it out of the newspaper, and since i am allergic to eggs this works just fine.

The only thing my stepmother could cook properly other than roast lamb. Even her mashed potatoes were lumpy. She hit the roof the day younger DS said "Nan, I really love your mashed potatoes, they are SO lumpy!" Dad cracked up and said, "I've always told you you can't cook mashed potatoes, now you might believe me."

I cooked a meatloaf in my slowcooker the other day for the first time. DH really liked it, and I thought it was ok. the texture was a little different. Next time I will use less milk in the mixture -- it doesn't lose moisture like it does in the oven.
On the subject of cabbage rolls, I wish I had my mother's recipe for stuffed cabbage. Tried to reproduce it as best as I could remember, but it wasn't as good. These weren't rolls, but shaped like the entire cabbage with the large outer leaves as a shell and browned butter poured over the baked casserole. Oh lord it was good!

The best meal ever is one you don't have to cook yourself. Can I hear an AMEN :)

I love meat loaf. When I was a little kid, my daddy always cooked on weekends. He had about 5 different dishes that he alternated. But my absolute favorite was his meat loaf, macaroni and cheese with green peas. I was his little shadow and was always in the kitchen with him to "help". And he would always make one corner of the macaroni with extra cheese browned under the broiler just for me. I still make the meat loaf just like he did only I bake it in a 12 cup muffin pan and freeze the individual loaves for quick meals. The memories are just as good as the meat loaf.

That is so true. Mom was a SAHM & when we came home from school, supper was always just about ready. She cooked everything from scratch. Her cooking was outstanding.DH said if we hadn't got married, he'd have stayed friends with Mom,just to eat at her table :-)
