Do you believe in ghosts?

My Aunt, died at age 94. The hospital phoned the family to have us come in, as it seemed to be time to say goodbye. When I and DH went into the room my Aunt was clearly not doing well. She woke up for a bit that night while we were still there, and got the most amazed, surprised and happy expression on her face as she looked around the room. I asked her what she saw, and she replied that all of her brothers and sisters were there and her mother and father. (she was the last surviving of 13) I asked if my mom was there (almost praying that she was) and my Aunt looked around and said no. Darn.
But here's where it gets rather odd:
She pulls me to her and quietly asks me, "Who's that guy?". I reply with, "Aunt Cornelia, I can't see them, I'm trying so hard, but I can't see any of them. Is it an old neighbor?". She says, "The man in the dark suit." Again I tell her that I don't know who he is. Then she says, .... get this............. "I don't know him, but he's new and he's scared."
And that's all I have to say about that.

Every once in awhile my Aunt's spirit visits because I smell cigarette smoke when she is around. And my Grampa who passed away when I was 6 weeks old stops by, I know when he has been here I smell cigar smoke.

I believe there is more to the spirit world than we at this day and age allow.
My grandma died in 1970. Suddenly. About a month after her death, my dad and my sister and I were visiting my grandpa. He was telling some story that we had heard many times, and one that my grandma always corrected the facts on. While he was talking, my sister and I both heard her laugh. We turned together to face the sound. She looked at me and I her and said"you heard it too?" It was a distinct laugh that no one else in the family could imitate. There was a warmth next to us also for a few minutes. I bleieve there are spirits from our family to help us, that are sent to give us comfort and guilde us- if we are receptive to the thought.

They do communicate to us. For years after I was married at Thanksgiving I would call my mother and say, "hey Ma, how do you make stuffing?" It became a joke. After a while I knew but I still called. Well she died in 2001 in October. One month later no one to call to say, "Hey Ma" to. Well soon before Thanksgiving my phone rang and it was my brother. He says, "Hey Karen, how do you make stuffing?" I think I laughed for 5 mins before I could tell him why he actually called.

yes! the night my father in law passed, my 15 yr old son called me at the hospital within minutes of him dying and said that he had just walked in the door and told him good bye. Also when my mother in law passed i felt his presence.

No, but I do believe that people we have loved live on in our hearts and minds so strongly that their presence can be felt in an immediate and very real way. My dad died about eight years ago and my mother still "feels" his presence; even talks to him sometimes (and no, she's not senile by a long stretch). Maybe that's all ghosts are.

I believe. We lived in a "haunted house" in MA and have seen, heard and felt spirits in this house in ME. One actually patted my behind and I thought it was my dog since he used to do that. I had one scream in my ear, that wasn't at all fun.
