We have a cockatiel named Rooster who barks. He has a bit of an identity problem going on there. He was given to us by neighbors who were moving. They had 5 kids so Rooster isn't terribly sociable---bites. He whistles but doesn't talk.

My Sister-in-law had a parrot and her stupid stoner of a husband insisted on messing with the bird even though (or probably because) I asked him not to. Birds are too "fluttery" and unpredictable for me and they scare me. DumbSh** kind of tossed the bird in my direction and he used my forehead as a landing strip. Scared me to bits. So NO, I keep my distance.

I have two. A blue and gold macaw and an african gray. The macaw calls me mom and called my ex husband "stupid" Who says they aren't smart.   He says hello and peek a boo and goodby and good night. The gray talks alot. About a hundred words and lots of sounds. He usually sounds just like me son. If my back is turned I can't tell them apart. He does laugh just like me. Calls all the cats by name. He is a very smart bird.

I have a parrot, a Blue Headed Pionus, called Fletcher. He is 11 mos old now and talks a blue streak. He can talk almost as well as an African Grey. He says: Hi Fletcher, Bird Boy, Whatcha doin?, Come here, Peek a boo, Kitty kitty kitty, Gimme kiss(makes the kiss sound), and I will sing....Old McFletcher had a farm...and he says E and I finish the rest.....I E I O. He is an absolute joy to have. I have had birds since I was 7 or 8 starting with budgies, cockatiels, a Quaker parakeet, a White Capped Pionus that I lost last spring and now Fletcher. I adore birds.

I love to go in the pet shops and look at the birds. Went in PetCo and they had cockatiels in an open cage. You could interact with them if they were willing. It is so much fun! The pet store we used to go to isn't there anymore. They had birds that would sit on your shoulder and go with you through the store. They had a Cockatoo named Sonny that would hold a conversation with you. He was so funny! He would walk all over the cash register and ring up the numbers and just laugh!!
