    A weed is simply a flower out of place. There have been some beautiful 'thistle quilts' made.

    cjr is correct. The flower's botanical name is Eryngium. It is also called Blue Sea Holly. It is used a lot by florists. The flowers are very long lasting.

    Going for the Latin name here as that is usually the best way to find them in a search. I am going for Echinops. I think the white ruffle-y things are just left over flower petals. Then again - I could be wrong.

    It looks like a thistle to me ( my doggy could not under stand that a flower could stick you and kept trying to smell the flower)

    Ahh!!! Yes ladies but the Thistle is the national fower of Scotland..... my home.. So, weeds they may be but to me they are the fairest of all floors (flowers)

    Lovey photos. This flower is called an eryngium. It's a thistle type flower without the prickles and is used a lot in place of thistles for buttonholes etc at Scottish weddings. Hope you enjoyed it!
