I have the Elna model that is like the 6600. They are great machines but with the 6300, all you would need is a walking foot. The accu-feed is attached but you still have screws to contend and there's not much space there to deal with that. They perform the same function so you'd not be giving up anything to go with a separate walking foot for both the 6300 and 6500. Had the 6300 been out when I bought my Elna, I'd probably have gone that route. The main thing you would give up going with the 6300 is fewer stitches and no alphabet.

I own the Janome 6500 for 11 years. I like to free motion quilt smaller quilts on it but before my long arm have done Cal King quilts on it. I really like the machine. It was a gift to me and surprise so I did not pick it out. A good and way less expensive option is those cast iron singer machines like the Singer 15. They have very large and tall openings and are very strong. Another option would be a Juki straight stitch.
