Drenched in the South
Nothing like being homebound in a rain storm. This tropical thing has been sitting upon us for quite a while and we are homebound because of high water, Thankfully our homes are sitting high and dry but many neighborhoods aren't so lucky. My husband is chomping at the bit to make a big pot of gumbo. I, on the other hand have been stitching away. I had pieced 100 Mountain Majesties blocks and had them organized to be stitched together. Well the first day of the rain, I sewed my rows together. Yesterday I pressed the joining seams open. To avoid burned fingers, I used the little Clover ironing tool (not sure what it's called). Watching the Olympics at the same time made the time and the work fly by. Today I need to do some trimming and then begin the assembly of rows. Sure would like to know what other Cajun country quilters are doing while staying out of the rain. Hope none of you are flooded out.

Here in Corpus Christi we could use some rain. Have had not even an inch in over a month. Landlord wants us to use soaker hose on the foundation which we have been but to no avail. best time to water the yard is after 6 pm and 10 am. We only do it when DH wakes up at between 4-5 am then turns it off when he leaves for work at 7am. Soaker hose is on at same time. SAw a guy flick a cigarette out the window and just about same time police officer saw the same. Pulled him over pronto. No one was home at the property where the guy flicked the cigarette. Could've been horrible situation.

We could use some rain here. Its supposed to hit this weekend so I'm planning to spend some time in my sewing room. I always watch tv when I'm sewing, but I won't be watching the Olympics. I have a DVR that's 76% full of mysteries and other favorite shows.

it's been over 90* for the last few days. with the heat index it's over 100. I just opened the front door, it's oprssive out there. Stay dry. Maybe we can get some rain here. it feels tropical here today.

We (in Mississippi) have had the same storms. Loads of rain but as a result today is mild and cool! In August! I'll take it.
Had to cancel my water aerobics class yesterday due to thunderstorms (its an outside pool) and was forced to stay home and quilt. It was pure torture, I tell you...
The relief from the oppressive heat is most welcome.
