THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I'm sure they were a labor of love. Very thoughtful sister to have kept them all of these years.

WOW, your smocking is absolutely amazing and I'm glad your sister preserved them, as they are truly treasures as they took quite a bit of time to make, they are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.

Those are absolutely gorgeous! I used to smock for my daughter also. I smocked her First Communion dress. It didn't fit her daughter but I still have something I made for myself - a red gingham apron.

I'll add one more thing. Our children are adopted. The first was a girl. When we went to pick her up, she had a BEAUTIFUL smocked dress on - Polly Flinders. I loved it so much that my sister bought me another. My daughter is now 41 but I saved the dresses and she dressed her dolls with them. They don't do work like that anymore.

When I was little my mother smocked and made all of my dresses. I remember how pretty I felt. Your niece will always remember the beautiful smocking you lovingly made for her and this makes you a very special Aunt. Beautiful work.

work that beautiful is never OLD FASHIONED. If I were lucky enough to have a grandaughter, she would have
dresses just like those. Your sister knows the value and love you showed with every stitch. thank you for sharing.

I am just overwhelmed at the workmanship in those little dresses. Why can't kids these days appreciate the handwork from those days. Unfortunately, they'd rather have blue jeans and flip flops.

Whoah, hold on a minute. My computer was a little slow bringing up the pictures so I hadn't seen the bonnets yet when I posted the above remark. Now after seeing the bonnets too.....Oh my gosh. Everything is just so beautiful. You should have a good pat on the back. What a great talent you have.
