No electricity, nothing to unplug. My machine is always in travel mode. Working on converting Red Eye to handcrank.

I live in Florida, the lightning capitol of the USA. Our electricity is from Florida Power and Light. They (FPL) will put a whole house surege protector on your house for about $10 per month. If an item is fried due to a power surge, they buy you a new one. SOOO rarely do I even think of a surge protector...especially when I should...like when I go to a class. We had fried wiring at our former home and they paid without question. For us, I think it is money well spent.

Almost every thing in our home is on surge protectors. We run our business from our home so the loss of computers, sewing machines etc would be devastating.

I keep my plugged in all the time but they are all on serge protectors. Wouldn't think of plugging it directly into the wall.

Yep, this is what I do also. We have a lot of outages/surges throughout the year so I do this for my one computerized machine just to be sure.

I love the surge protector bars - like a short extension cord with multiple outlets. Most of the outlets in my sewing room are behind shelving or file cabinets. Using them I don't have to crawl on my hands and knees to plug anything in. Have a surge protector/extension cord in every outlet in my room.
