Default Estate Sales

Recently I stopped at an estate sale and was able to buy about a dozen lovely pillow slips for $3.00, I plan on making dresses for African girls. I looked through everything and picked up carpet cleaner for .50 and other household chemicals very cheap. So last Wednesday there was another estate sale close to my home and I thought I’d stop again. Walked in that afternoon and the first thing I see is a Singer Featherweight 221 with a box of accessories for $50. The case was there with original instructions. I tested it and although it needs cleaned, that baby purred. I took it over to the shelves they have and said I wanted it. Walked around the house and saw this cute old wood card table for $5. Walked by it a few times and spotted something that nearly gave me a heart attack. It was the table for the Featherweight! My heart was beating so fast, I just couldn’t believe it. When I paid for all the things, (more carpet cleaner, basket etc), I told the lady the price was wrong. She said that if the table belonged with the machine, then she wasn’t charging me the $5. My heart is still pumping when I look at the table. It’s scratched and shows wear and tear, but is in perfect condition. So is the Featherweight with all its decals. My lucky day.

Yea! Glad it went to someone who will enjoy it. Especially the table, I've seen a few that someone glued the insert in place so they could use it as a regular card table!

That's very lucky for you but I do feel sorry for the estate that hired the people to liquidate the property. When my mother passed and I had to hire an Estate Sales group I interviewed several. My parents had a lot of Western and Southwestern art and books. Only one group got on the internet and started investigating the value of the items and was surprised one book was worth $2500 and the one we had was autographed with a lot of the artists featured in the book. Three of the book store owners that came said they thought I was exaggerating when I said I had a lot of book and said I had more than many stores in the area.
