That sounds like fun. I wish I could get my sister interested but I can't. She loves looking at fabric but that's it and she has beautiful taste. She's not into making things.

How about some style of apron? That is the first thing I ever learned.

I had a weekend with my sister and SIL working on a quilt and it was a great time!

I know you've done hotpads, but as a cast iron user, I love my skillet handle potholder! I can find the link, or put instructions for the way I made my first one if you are interested.

You can make small coin purses or makeup bags. A lady in my quilt group gave little earring pouches for travel. They lay flat and have a round plastic mesh insert you can put the posts through to secure them. Christmas stockings can be quick and easy.

Pinterest and Craftsy have a lot of free patterns you can download for various items.

I'm envious! My only relative who would be interested lives several states away. I was at a baby shower this weekend and someone had made a little quilt...probably only 24" square, with one side of cute flannel squares and the back was that cuddle fabric. More of a "lovey" type of blanket. Everyone raved over it.

My family has a sewing group ... mother in law, daughter, daughter in-law, etc. group changes with circumstances. We have used a lot of piecesfrommyheart.net patterns by Sandy Gervais. Many of her wall hangings can be made with a charm pack and sew up fast and easy. We have made potholders and table runners too!
