What a bummer. I always worry about leaving the washing machine or dishwasher on if I'm going out

Just a suggestion. Had problems a few years ago with water in my house (pipes were damaged). Learned the hard way of dealing with insurance. Wish someone had told me this in the beginning. Document everything that happens. Your adjuster calls, write a letter to the adjuster and say exactly what was talked about. I know this may sound silly but you need a document trail. Hopefully you won't need it. But if you do it is there. Good luck on the clean up and repairs. Hopefully it will go by fast

Similar breakdown at my house back in 2008. Didn't leave a load running but water supply hose (the one that is 'on' all the time) burst behind the machine and flooded the house. (and fried the electronics of the washer) Thank you State Farm Insurance for new washer, new carpet, new vinyl, new baseboards, repaired drywall and painting....what a mess. That was when I started the de-clutter project. Have sold or given away more than half of my collections of stuff and don't find that I'm missing anything...for future, check the washer hoses every 5 years...and don't store anything on the floor unless it is in a plastic tub! Best wishes, you'll get through it!
