I have a question - for Terri I think - how does the foal know to stick its legs out first and then follow with its legs? If I'd been in that dark place this long, I'd take a dive for the light head first!

Sharon, that's just how they are born. The front legs, along with their nose/head comes out. Sort of just like how human babies are born.
Kay or maybe it was Karla, not sure which, did say that some will come out butt end first, but that's a rarity.

Oh yea, and the foal doesn't move into birthing position until right before it's born.
