Kay, I know that Vick is just breaking your heart. Maybe Ninnie is right and she would sell to someone else.

If that doesn't work, well.....I'm assuming that 50 lbs on a mini or shetland is more like 200 on a full sized horse. If all else fails, you might try contacting the local SPCA or Humane Society and making a report of an underweight horse. They will do an investigation and speak with and work with the owner to educate them and remedy the problem. If they don't comply, then the agency will seize the horse and you can get him back from them.

Can you tell I watch WAY too much Animal Cops and Animal Precinct? It drives Mom nuts, 'cause I'll call her boo-hooing about some really pitiful animal.

Kay, I was just about to suggest the same as Gai.

Gai - France is a pretty big country, I'm sure there's room for both of us - just! LOL Actually, my heart leapt when I read the first half of that sentence! Aw, go on! I knew some people who shipped horses with them here from the States. A French friend said to me 'they're crazy, it cost a fortune, why didn't they sell them and buy more here? Would be cheaper - its not like they were PEDIGREEs'!!! They just didn't understand that those horses were beloved pets and the people who brought them would just have soon have left their KIDS behind! Duh!!!

Kay, I was on the 2d floor balcony...where was I supposed to go? Well, I did come inside. lol

It's not all that bad. I remember the first one I encountered when we got here. I was in the kitchen making Courtney's lunch. As I'm standing there, I could feel the floor ripple under my feet. Was pretty cool! lol
Earthquakes happen here all the time. Sometimes we feel them, sometimes we don't.

Terri, I'd have hid in a cupboard! Or stood in a doorframe - aren't they supposed to stay standing if the building falls down? LOL I've been in an earthquake simulator in the Science Museum in London but I'm sure it's not the saame as the real thing! I even found that scary! LOL

My house is built out of cinderblocks. Total "brick and morter" so to speak. This house is a tank...it's not going anywhere.

Yup, I know just what Terri means! I was in the chat one night when we had a 5.0 quake, just a nice roller. My dining room light was swinging in a 2" arc, but nothing fell off the shelves so no worries! lol

Gosh Kay, how awful about Vic! I'll bet it was hard to leave without him. :(

And you're right - they should've taken one look at Joanne before the show & snatched her up! lol She's a beauty for sure. Their loss!

Kay, when I hear stories like this, I want to lock up the owner's of these animals and starve about 100 pounds off of them!!!!   If you can't take care of an animal properly, let them go to someone who can!!!!!
