i don't know about dogs, but i have to give my cat a baby asprin every other day. our vet said not to do it every day because their systems wouldn't take it. i just crush it and mix with a spoon of tuna. she loves it and seems to be feeling better.

You can give a dog aspirin as long as its a coated aspirin.

My husband and I had to take our golden to the vet last week for hip/back problems and he couldn't get up in the back of our car and we had to lift him up with a towel around this belly, talk about a very humilating experience for our dog, 4 times we had to do this. But anyways, I degress, our vet said that you shouldn't give a dog aspirin every day but even if we did he should have been given a much larger dose than what we were giving him, like 1 1/2 325mg aspirin. He did have us give him 1500 mg of chondroiten and a Rimidyl. This has made such a huge difference in our dog. He is walking much better now.

NO to asprin and dogs. A simple Tylenol is what my vet suggested but never asprin.

My understanding is that dogs should not take aspirin. There are couple of very effective pain killers specifically for dogs. The catch-more expensive than ASA.

yes you can give a dog asprin. Ask your vet for the recommended dosage for your size dog.

I get daily pet newsletters and just got one today on the dangers of giving regular meds and food to dogs that contain xylitol which is a sugar that is in alot of meds and prescription drugs and in alot of things you might not even realize it is in. It is very toxic to your dog. Here is a link you can go to, hopefully you can just click on it, but if not, you can copy and paste it. It is a short but interesting read.

I give mine 1 baby asperine only when necessary, we also will give ours half a benedryl when they are having allergies and two tablespoons of pumpkin when constipated.

I've given ecotrin (aspirin w/a coating to protect the stomach) as prescribed by my vet to my dogs before. Recently Sofie (an 11 year old lab/Airedale mix) tore her ACL we gave her ecotrin and the vet had us switch to Rymidal a prescription pain reliever that doesn't thin the blood. This was important since she had surgery a few weeks later. What ever you do don't use Tylenol or Advil/Motrin, those are very dangerous for dogs.
